If your car dealer doesn't explain what happens, and do this for you, I wouldn't buy the car from him.

The dealer will arrange all the paperwork for registration (you'll need to provide an insurance cover note).
The DVLA will send the log-book (V5C) direct to you in the post.
It should arrive within a week or two of registration (mine arrived about 2 days after I got my car).

If brand new you mean 07 reg due March 1st nothing, just fill out the relvant forms at the dealer and you will receive the log book in the post.

if it is a brand new car the dealer will make sure you have all the right documantation before you leave the forecourt.
