I always leave some dry food available for my cats 24/7. (Most happy cats will not overeat.) Besides the dry, mine also enjoy wet food twice a day. (Yes, they are spoiled!) You could also follow the feeding instructions on individual cat food package labels. There are different requirements for kittens and older cats. If your cat is over or under-weight, that needs to be addressed with the Vet. Don't forget to change their water every day, too! As for brands of food, I believe the ones you get at the Vets (more expensive, yes) add several years of life for a cat over the cheaper stuff.

If its a fatty only once in the morning ... but if it is average weight once in the morning and once in the evening to ensure that he doesnt get fat... BUT do NOT keep food in its bowl at all times.. and read the package it will usually say feed him 2/3 cup a day.. so feed him 1/3 in the morning and 1/3 at night!! =) hopefully this was helpful!!

I've had cats for many many years and they have always been healthy and long-lived. I leave dry food and water down all day long and give wet food once a day. Cats, unlike dogs, will eat only until they are satisfied, so it is safe to leave food down for them all day.

I leave dry food out for my 2 indoor cats 24/7. They will not over eat, and it works out well for us. That way, if I'm not at home to feed them at certain times, they still have food available.

If you put a bowl of pellets down in the morning, the cat can help himself to it. Kittens are not like puppies they will only eat what they need.

Just leave a steady supply of food and water out for them. They will eat when they are hungry. This is one of the reason cats are so low maintenence.

it depends on the cat of course...vets suggest twice a day...i just leave food out all the time for my cats...most cats will only eat as much as they need...if your cat starts to eat to much and gets fat reduce the amount of food you give it and make it exersice
so basically just give the cat as much as it wants unless it gets fat
