If you replace the large stud with a smaller one, it will fall out of the piercing. The point of the large stud is to keep the piercing open and in place until the piercing heals. If you put in a smaller stud before you're supposed to change your stud, you'll lose the piercing and have to get it repierced. If piercings aren't allowed at your school, you should have waited until summer to get it done. It takes a while for the nose to heal and you should leave the large stud in if you want to keep the piercing.

Why did you have it put in if you are nervous about teachers etc? Unless you are in a private school, I do not think teachers can tell you to take it out.

Don't mess around with a piercing until it is healed. It is a big larger than you will eventually need, but for now it is a wound that can swell. The fitting must allow room for this. My daughter had to have her first tongue piercing cut out because the piercer was careless regarding size. Don't get all squigly, it was a nothing thing to have done and less painful than the piercing itself.

You do not mention your age, but you sound very young. A nose piercing grows over within hours. I remember hundreds of soccer and basketball games ... afterwards my daughter repiercing her nose in the back of the car!

Smarter to get piercings than tats hon. They grow in and don't need laser treatment to disappear!

Make sure your fitting, the metal, is top quality. Many piercing problems come from inferior quality fittings.

Wait until the last possible moment, then go to your piercer and have him/her change it for you.

I got mine done when I had two days off from work, and work said no piercings. I was a bad bad girl and switched it out daily from retainer to pretty thing. That's not even to meantion the dammage I did the day it was done when I had to figure out how to the the damned screw in. It got infected and my nose fell off entirely, now my friends call me MJ.

Okay, so that last bit about the nose falling off is stupid, and in fact my piercing is healed and happy, but you need to not mess with it as much as possiple. Only touch it when cleaning. Bad things can happen.

Do you go to a private or alternative school? If yours is public, I don't think it's quite legal for them to say that you can't have it. I went through all that when I was at the "Outpost." That was where I learned the beauty of retainers and how to dodge the system. It was weird having to ask my principal for permission to pierce something, though...

Best jewelry: Nostril screw. Nose bones are the devil. Ask any reputable piercer they'll tell you why. The dissreputable ones will speak of the opposite.

Best material: Titanium, surgical stainless steal, niobium. Sterling silver is a heavy mettal and should not be worn in a healed piercing, let alone a fresh one *open wound, anyone?* and gold often has nickel in the mix. What is nickel, you ask? Nickel is what most people are allergic to and will cause a godaufful reaction if you've had problem with "cheap" *see, standard* earings before. often mistaken as infection, but indeed allergic reaction.

Aftercare: I use the LITHA *leave it the hell alone* meathod with most piercings, but mostly because I was once advised alcohol or peroxide to clean the piercings, and of course had a bad experience. Gentle cleansers, anti-MICROBIAL soap if you like, but the pros mostly just do the saline solution thing. H2Ocean is good, too. Weird thing I learned is that the Neutrogena RapidClear Oil Control Foaming cleanser not only works wonders in keeping the shine off my face, it also didn't hurt the piercing at all and I swear helped heal it, my brow, and my lip. Of course I never worked it into the fistula or anything, but I washed my face as normal just being a little careful of resident piercings and all went well. No peroxide or rubbing alcohol and no anti_BACTERIAL soap, all of which do not discriminate between bad cells and good cells, which means they kill what's trying to heal the piercing.

Healing time: There is no known piercing that heals in a matter of weeks. Possibly the tongue web, but it's debatable. Everything should be allowed at least 3months, and cartilage should be allowed at least six. Your nose is cartilage, if you were not aware of that. It bags me when people say "it'll be healed in 4 to 6weeks." It's more like 4 to 6MONTHS, and that includes your ear lobes. What a shocker, the Clair's or Wal-Mart lady gave bad info. I'm so surprised at that one.

Sprry to bombard you with information, but I read the other answers and my god most of them were retarded. Please, if you need to know more, please reffer to bmezine.com.

You might want to check on how long its been pierced. The last question you posted about this said it was 5 days ago that you got it done...

If you have a time machine, can I borrow it?

Like I said before in the other question, you should have been told that the jewelry will be big (in terms of lenght) to allow for swelling and proper cleaning. If you MUST have it changed, you need to have your piercer do it for you. Its far too soon for you to do it and at least the piercer will be able to minimize damage and trauma done to the piercing. Plus, the piercer will know what gauge it was done with to make sure you don't put the wrong jewelry in.

no... you were fitted with a larger stud to accomidate for swellingl. they do that for any piercing.. you will need to keep the large stud in.. you will need to keep with in for lieka month. your piericing is still very new. and if it needs to swell and you have a smaller stud in there you will have a lot of complications... if you knoew nose piercings werent allowed at school why ddi you get it in the first place? go to yoru piercer in 2 weeks and have them downsize it for you (the appropriate size piece of jewelry) cause by then the swellign shoudl be gone... but you cant change it and using any kidn of solution on it will not be okay. the jewwelry you get for the pierce shop will be sterile and they can chage it easily for you.. better go to them in 2 weeks to downsize....

it is going to harm like hell. attempting to interchange the stud with yet another earring often is the resembling jamming a positioned up by using a uncooked hollow on your flesh. that's why you at the instant are not meant to take it out for 6-8 weeks. in case you may get a clean stud in then you are worth of the soreness. i might say enable it heal first...

A little trick that's easy to do is to cut a little piece of bandaid (the sticky part) big enough to cover the stud and put it on your nose.
Use your makeup over it to blend into your skin a little better.
My friend used to do it everyday for her job as a waitress.
Pain in the butt, but you shouldn't be messing with a piercing that's fresh.
Also you could purchase a clear nostril retainer.

I have my nose pierced, & I had it done when I was in 9th grade. I guess it depends on your school my teachers never cared lol!, but in your case It is safe to change the stud to a smaller one, just make sure it's stearling silver or real gold, to reduce the risk of any infections. Also make sure u put it right back in or it will close!!! (that happened to me) and make sure u keep cleaning it!
