Somebody told me that using Bit Comet is more legal (technically) than using other P2P programs such as Limewire. So whats makes this so. With Bit Comet you are required to upload to download isn't this the same thing when it comes to illegal sharing?

Just like Limewire, the software itself is technically legal. What makes it illegal is the downloading and sharing of copyrighted files. Bittorrent works a little differently than Limewire but it operates under the same premise..people share files from their PCs so if you share illegal files then it is just as illegal as Limewire...it just isn't as easy to trace because of the way it is set up.

The act of using BitComet or any P2P program is legal. It's using them to trade files that are under copyright that's ilegal. It doesn't matter what you use, that part of it is still illegal. It's teh act, not the program, that determines whether something is legal or not.
