This is a really great question:
Satan is coming first, before the true Christ, and he will come in pretending to be Christ, and even disguised as Christ. Satan comes on the 6th trump, and the true Christ comes on the 7th trump.
Yep, Satan knows Scripture quite well; but this is the deal: Satan rebelled in the last earth age (yep, the earth is eons and eons old) and satan was judged then, and condemned to death.
The reason satan is still around, is because God is using him for the end-times. Anyone who ignores Gods warnings that are in the Word, over and over again - and worship this fake as if he is Christ - well, when Christ does return, they will be so ashamed they will want rocks to fall on them rather than to face the real Jesus.
God is in control; He is the one who is allowing this deception and using satan to do it. Thats why it won't happen any other way - because behind the scenes, God is fully in control.

Well for one, If he faked it, then the dead in Christ would have to rise from their tombs, and Satan isnt able to bring people up from the dead. Secondly, I think he will be too concerned with influencing the anti-christ to fake the second coming of Jesus. (And in turn, create more Christians...)

satan is trying to mislead people every day of our lives. It is up to us to study God's wrord daily so we can recognize the traps and lies set out there by satan. He can only trick people if they do not take God's word and learn from it daily.
