You can't worry about hurting their feelings. Honesty is always the best policy. One thing that will really hurt the other person mentally, is knowing that you hung in there when you didn't really want to be with them, it will eat on them like crazy. Just tell him.

That's a tough one. There is really no way to avoid hurting him, but he deserves honesty and will respect you for it. I think you should talk with him privately and express your feelings exactly the way that you have in your question. Make sure there are no distractions, turn off your phone, avoid interruptions and tell him directly as you have expressed yourself here...that "you don't want to be with him anymore, that you still care about him, but you are not in love with him." Keep the details private, agree to say only positive things about each other to your friends and associates (you can always say you are still very fond of XXX), and let time pass before you converse with him again. He'll understand that you're serious and aren't going to change your mind. Eventually you may be able to remain friends with each other and treasure that friendship. Good Luck

speaking as a girl who resently had this done to me, theres very little chance that no matter what way you do it, he wont walk away hurt. Sit down with him and talk about it, maybe make sure there isnt anything that just needs to change in order to make it better. in the end, dont take too long, men like women have an intuitive sense for things goin wrong, and although you may not act as though you dont love him (treat him with as much respect as you always have) he will be able to notice things (signs) that you yourself dont know your giving off. hell feel like crap and not know why. talk to him, if it cant work, then at least you can both leave peacefully.

Sorry, jus kidding, Exactly what you feel honey that you love the guy but your not in love with him. Take it slow when your telling him an be honest, don't do the its me not you crap, just say you have the upmost respect for him and you can't continue in the relationship when your feelings have changed.

Just as you just asked the question. It's not about saving his feelings and you're not happy anymore. Do it now or just be miserable and un-happy with him. It's your call, but you do need to sit him down and let him know. The sooner the better. Be Blessed!

Tell them, make it permenant.
Don't hang with them anymore (that's using people)
If you really are Kind and caring don't carry on another relationship in front of them.

Keep turning down his dates, probably at the last minute. Tell him you have something to do or you are sick. He'll soon get the message. If not, then he wouldn't be someone you would want to be with anyway.
