If I am going to hold a fund raiser, how much will each plate of spaghetti (with meat sauce), tea, and slice of cake cost me. I am trying to estimate what price I will have to set per ticket to raise the funds necessary for my cause.

You're talking about YOUR cost, right? That depends on a whole lot of variables, most of which concern the resources available to you. If you (the people throwing the fund raiser) get your food supplies from a restaurant distrubutor, the cost per plate will be much less than if you bought things at the supermarket. A 32-ounce jar of Ragu at the market might cost $1.29, while a 128-ounce can of sauce might cost $3 from a distributor. And the cake you serve: is it a pre-made sheet cake? a cheesecake? or is the cake being baked by someone on your staff?

Since I don't know what resources are available to you, and I don't know what prices are like in your area, I'd suggest that you check with other local organizations that hold fund raisers (churches, fire houses, Knights of Columbus, etc). I'm sure they'd be happy to share their resources with you...and in many cases, I bet they'd even be willing to help YOU out with your fund raiser. It's all for a good cause, after all.

It depends entirely on portion size-- most serving sizes of pasta dishes are 4 to 8 oz.with 2 to 3 oz of sauce unless it is pre-mixed.The average piece of cake at a fund-raiser is approx. 2 x 2" or 2 x 3". Tea is usually brewed in a large urn-type coffee maker.

Another factor used in determining what to charge is to estimate how many people may show up.But usually these things are done through churches, scouting units, fire departments and the like. Most of these fund-raisers are advertised in local papers, which may also be part of the charges incurred.

In the area I live in , the average cost for spaghetti fund-raisers is between $4.50 and $6.00 and include a choice of two drinks, the main dish, bread, and a dessert. It also helps if there is some soft music playing in the background.

But one of the most important considerations to take into account is ---what is the money being raised for???

I do a free Thanksgiving day meal for between 100 -125 people every year. The meal includes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, home-made noodles, sweet potatoes, two vegetables, bread, coffee, soda, tea, hot chocolate, pumpkin pie, cookies, cakes, whipped butter, and covered dishes contributed by some of the attendees. Our average cost is about $200.00 for the entire meal

Spaghetti would be $6-8 bucks. You might could get away w/ $10 (depending upon your area) if you have an "all you can eat" feature. Let that include a good salad and garlic bread. I think it woudl be less if it was "take out only"; yo could get more for it if they eat there, tables are kept clean, Itlaian music playing, people serving refills, etc.

Desserts are usually a buck or two apeice. You may get more $$ if you make them "for donations" at peoples' discretion. If they ask for a figure, suggest $2/servig.
