Does anyone know how I can get it back? I tried to find it, but I can't. A message said that I have to install it, but there is no listing of the program in the add/remove program. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

Sounds like your sound drivers may have disappeared. Or have become corrupt. Even if you still have sound. It's possible for something like that to happen.
2 Possible ways of handling it.
# 1. Do a system restore via accessories/system tools. Restore your computer to say a week before your problem(s) have started.
# 2. Using your restore CD, reinstall your soundcard drivers.
One or both of these 2 suggestions should help you.
