I have a mini pin and you take care of one just like a big dog. You can train them for anything you want, since they are very smart. Mine knows where I hide the candy from the kids. If you say the word "candy" he will go and and sit in front of the dresser drawer. And stare. He gets along quite well with the cats and the other dogs we have. And he will think you are the greatest, most wonderful person on earth. They are very loyal little dogs and very protective of their owners. And mine loves a teddy bear that he stole from my youngest daughter. Drags it around and sleeps with it. He also likes to play fetch with a rolled up sock. These are just awesome dogs!

I am a former long time breeder who currently rescues this breed and can tell you that they are not "hyper". Hyper implies a medical condition. Pin's are not hyper, they are though very energetic by nature. They are ferreting and hunting dogs that are sight dogs. This implies that rodents or things that move quickly will get their attention and they will respond to it. They need yard space to run due to the energy level. They can be destructive in a house if left without a space to wear off energy. They are rated the 3rd worst dog for apts as they are by nature, territorial and therefore will bark at noises which will create neighbor complaints. They are trainable as they are very intelligent but that is also their downfall. They are sometimes to smart for their own good. They can get into trouble easily and therefore need to be watched carefully. The Pin has no comprehension of it's size. As far as a Pin is concerned it is as big as any dog out there. It will defy you and will try your patience. This breed is one of the most difficult to house train as does not do well in cold or wet weather. They only have one coat of hair so they will burrow under blankets etc regularly. They are also the greatest escape artist of all breeds and will find anyway to bolt. They need to be on a harness leash when outdoors unless in a secure Min Pin proof fenced yard. I have 10 of these dogs and a great deal of years raising them. They are great dogs but not ever recommended for a first time dog owner. I suggest you get on the internet and read up on this breed to be sure you are ready to handle them. In regards to the Guinea pig, this is prey to a Pin if it is in anyway true to it's nature. Though not aggressive toward people, they do not like to be overly handled as they are an extremely independent breed. A lot of socialization as a puppy is required getting them use to people etc. They can be lap dogs if you let them get into your lap. Forcing them can and in most cases will create one that will nip. Chew toys are a must for this breed especially to replace your hand as like most puppies it will teeth and your hand movement attracts it's need to teeth.

if u get a mini dachshund it is going to be much louder than a mini pincher because they bark a lot. So if you live in a apartment it would be bad to get a dachshund.

My cousin owns a Min-Pin... just a word of warning... they are HYPER HYPER HYPER! You have to be stern with a dog like that, and they need plenty of exercise and room to roam around in. ♥
