I'm trying to pimp up my living room. My living room is nice but quite basic at the moment. I'm looking for suggestions on making it ultra trendy.

On my list so far are
- 50" wall mounted panasonic plasma
- bose home theatre system with wall mounted speakers
- squeezebox for streaming music
- black leather couch
- Wii and XBox media center

Do you have suggestions on anything such as other gadgets, lighting, furniture for consoles, DVD players etc, universal remotes

The one think I'm not happy with the Bose home theatre system is that while it the surround sound system sounds great with DVD's , its not so good with regular CD's. Would you suggest getting separate speakers for playing CD's? If so, which ones.

Suggestions, links to pics an comments appreciated.

Thanks!!

Firstly, have a theme. You have your objective which is trendy living room.

Suggested theme: Retro, Futuristic, Funky, Current, Cool & White, Office Space etc.

Then look for the furnitures, place them.
Finally bring in all the audio and video equipments (and hide them behind the panels or have nice a/v racks).

I would ditch the bose speakers and get some good yamaha or Sony speakers, as well as a good yamaha amp because they are heaps better than bose, unless you really want th size of the bose speakers. I would look at an LCD screen instead of a plasma because they do not get screen burn witch is an issue while you are playing games with a static image e.g spedo in a racing game and an lcd screen has a longer life. The rest of the setup is great.

You should ditch the Bose system altogether and get artful speakers. One that comes to mind are the KEF XQ1 bookshelf speakers. They come in silver, graphite, or red. The finish is glossy and gorgeous if you ever see it in real life. Click here http://www.kef.com/products/XQ/xq1.asp and then click on view larger image.

You can also upgrade your remote. There are so many kinds out there now with color and touchscreen capabilities. Do a search.

Instead of mounting the tv on the wall, try a cool stand like this from Sanus http://www.racksandstands.com/Sanus-JFV75e-SY0116.html, or this from BDI http://www.racksandstands.com/BDI-9329-BD1040.html

the biggest recent vogue is to operate an 'accent' wall. You both paint it with a deep/ambitious/evaluation colour or wallpaper it. then you definitely paint the different walls in a impartial white or cream colour which will supply the accent wall finished concentration and convey uncomplicated to at least some thing of room. As for the flooring, you ought to sand them down and both varnish or paint the forums. notwithstanding, use a impartial colored carpet on the floor, purely upload bits of colour via multiple small products to beautify.
