Okay - you asked so here it is:
Rev 17:3 is the description of a beast system, this one being religious; it will be set up by Antichrist himself. It is this woman, a harlot, with the names of blasphemies on her, because it very simply is many, many churches and Individuals who think Antichrist is the true Jesus Christ, returned. It isn't - its the fake, but they won't know that because they are Biblically illiterate, and so they will worship this fake -
Its gonna be the biggest religious tent revival of all time - these preachers along with their congregations will be falling all over each other to get to him, just to worship and serve him.
I quess people can't count anymore. The Antichrist comes on the 6th trump, pretending to be Christ - the true Christ doesn't return until the 7th trump. Think of all those Christians who believe in the rapture: they'll think this first one who comes is coming to rapture them to safety.
It will be blasphemy like you've never even imagined, because they will be worshipping the wrong "Jesus".

I, too, am trying to find out the names of blasphemy, on the internet I found this:

"To blaspheme is, therefore, in a scriptural sense, to bring divine things into disrepute; so that whatever words or doings tend to, or really do accomplish this, are blasphemies."

It is my opinion that teaching the 10 commandments and to "love thy neighbor as thyself" does bring salvation by faith in Christ into disrepute. The reason is that no one can keep these laws; therefore if judgment is made on them for failing to love others, it causes those who are one with Jesus through baptism and faith to be defiled and Jesus with them..

Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then; during the time of the end shall the sanctuary be cleansed [or "vindicated"].

The woman depicted with names of blasphemy is the Roman Emporer. The names of blasphemy refer to the fact that the Roman Emporer referred to himself as a god.

But yes, it has a long held view that this refers to teh Catholic Church. It has been an incorrect view for a long time.

Revelation 17:3 states:

Then he carried me away in spirit to a deserted place where I saw a woman seated on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names, with seven heads and ten horns.

The wild scarlet beast symbolizes the Roman empire. See also Revelation 13:1-10.

The seven heads represent the Roman emperors, Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus, M. Vipsanius Agrippa, Tiberius, Gaius ("Caligula"), Claudius, and Nero.

The blasphemous names are the divine titles assumed by the Roman emperors.

With love in Christ.

I was raised in various protestant evangelical churches and became Catholic in my 20's. There are a lot of Catholics -- over a billion of them. Not all of them are going to be great people. But most church-going Catholics try to follow Christ's teachings, and they welcome converts. I recommend that you talk with a PRACTICING Catholic that you know, or call around to different priests and tell them that you have some questions about Catholicism and may be interested. Sometimes priests are a little weird, but just keep calling till you find one that seems like he actually cares about you. I understand your desire to feel wanted. It is sometimes hard to be Catholic. I truly believe the faith, and because I do so, I have often been shunned by other Catholics. What you have to do is find other, well, "true believers" and support each other. See my web page on this issue, below.

Rev 17:3Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.

How did you get anything dealing with the Roman Catholic Church? Especially when you take the other verses with it. What is a blasphemous name?

From the Greek, "being replete name of harm-averment". Substitute that for "blasphemous name" and you might find clarity.

Names of blashphemy are all words which try to teach the truth of the creator.

when we name things, we takes it's utter simplicity and perfection and bring it down to a level that demeans it. It lets us TRY to understand it with the Mind, which is not the Spirit.

In your words, names of blasphemy are the symbols of the Self. Language itself. all of it is dirt when compared to the greatness and utter perfection of the creator.
