I'm getting a lot of great ideas from people, so any suggestions at all for a small, inexpensive wedding would be great. I already have a place, date, and invitations, so any ideas besides those topics would be great.

Outfit:
- Informal.
- get your dress online at ebay or at a sample sale
- hit up the bridal fairs that come to your area- you can always get GREAT discount coupons for things

Bridal Party:
Limit the amount of people and you eliminate how many gifts you have to buy for them.

Flowers
- Go with a naturally beautiful site such as a garden
make your bouquets single flowered with baby breath and make yours with fresh flowers of the day from your florist (they get great deals when there are less restrictions on type of flowers desired)

Officiant
If you are having it outside of a church, search around for an Officiant. Once again, as in my previous post about DJ's, gather up names and email them all. I got mine for $125 with no travel fees.

Photos:
- Have a trusted friend or family member take the pictures/video as long as you see some of their work
- go to the local college and hire a photography student who is looking to build their portfolio (once again take a look at their work first)

Transportation
- borrow or rent a really nice car (NOT a limo- you can get nice cars from Enterprise for under 90 bucks!)

Have the reception nearby if not in the same place.

Have the music played by a stereo, not by a live band unless the church does it for free...

Wedding cake-
- get a "fake cake" made (one where the bottom two layers are fake and the top is real). and then have two sheet cakes made for the guests.
- serve cupcakes- placing a cupcake tower at each table- thus also eliminating entirely the need for centerpieces.

Favors-
- make cookies or something edible for guests- most throw away gifts, but will eat the treats.
- dont have favors...

good luck and congrats!

I'm having a simple yet elegant wedding in June.
Orientaltrading.com is a great place to buy stuff inexpensive.

I choose Gerbera Daisy's as the flowers because they are very easy to come buy therefor inexpensive - and you can find great silk daisies that look just like the real thing, and there are so many different colors!

Use some of your grandmothers jewelry. That will be something borrowed (and you don't have to buy it!)

Buy pretty summer dresses as the bridesmaids dresses. This is the time of year that they are coming out.

We're having the family members bring food for the reception. No caterer.

Hope I've helped a little!

Okay, I just got married a few monthes ago and we had a really beautiful classy reception. Here's how we saved money.
1. No bridesmaids. You'll save hundreds on flowers, not to mention gifts for the bridesmaids and the rehearsal dinner.
2. Instead of flower center pieces, use candles. You can easily make a beautiful centerpiece yourself weeks before the wedding.
3. No wedding cake. It's $5 per person, usually not that tasty, and in most cases people don't even end up eating any cake. Instead, try to have a nice desset platter. It will save you LOADS.
4. Unless you really want some guy making a fool of himself by doing the chicken dance, forget the"wedding DJ". We found a guy who had a laptop and some killer speakers. We took him all of our favorite music as well as the first dance stuff. He did an amazing job and everybody danced the night away. He only charged us $150 opposed to the $2000 standard DJ's wanted.
5. Forget the wedding favors. People are coming to see you get married and celebrate with you. Nobody cares about taking home a pack of matches with your name on them or some nicknack they will NEVER use. I have been to tons of weddings and I have never saved my wedding favor. Most people don't even take them home.
6. Only serve wine and beer. Once you hit the hard liquor your bar tab goes up signifignantly. Everyone still will get a little tipsy and have a great time.

Well, I hope you can use some of this. Have a wonderful wedding, and remeber not to sweat the small stuff.

Great book- "How to Have an Elegant Wedding for $5,000 or Less"
There are lots of great ideas to make a wedding beautiful and keep the budget down. Also, check out craft stores (especially Michael's if you have one in your area) for how-to seminars that are fairly inexpensive and very informative. Usually the charge is little more than supplies and you will get hands on practice with someone that actually knows how to do the craft to guide you.
Hope this helps.

Flowers
-Fake but really real looking for far distance decorations people wont even notice
-Get your center peice flowers the day of your wedding at a local grocery or convenice store they have some really nice flowers for half the price than a flower shop
-Have your bouquet real but bridemaids fake

Music
-DJ is less expensive than a band
- Have someone make up a cd with your favorite songs

Center of the tables
-flowers like i said at the top
- glass vases at the dollar store that can look really nice and expensive but only cost a dollar
- instead of flowers could have gold fish or different fish swimming in the vases (Looks really pretty) and fish cost barely anything very very cheap

Food
-have a buffet, not a sit down
-have family members help bring/cook some of their great foods
-do most the cooking yourself

I have a suggestion for your wedding cake. I'm getting married in June and plan on having cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake. Most that I have priced were anywhere from $2.50 to $5.00 per slice. With cupcakes though, they are about $1.50 to $2.50 without the mess and they are easier to transport. Depending on where you are getting married you could have light hor d'ouvers instead of a heavy meal. Most major grocery chains do that sort of thing and can save you a lot of money. Good luck to you!

do silk flowers yourself. that way yourself, the mothers/grandmothers and bridesmaids will be able to keep their flowers as a memento of your wedding. and, since there are a lot of really cool stores that sell decent silk flowers at a great price, it wouldn't cost a whole lot of money.

also, i think that going casual is a great idea. we did that for our wedding and i loved it. we got married on a lakeshore, so everyone wore their sunday best shorts and we all had on flip-flops. it was so fun and cool and relaxed.

See if your friends or family have left over decorations that you could use. For flowers if you want fresh, go to a store the day of and buy them by the bunches.

It mostly depends on what you want and what you are not really interested in.

I am 16 and was thinking about that cause i am getting married next year and i changed it. but if you have a dock around the lake you could arrive in a boat and walk up the dock to arrive to your wedding. (: good luck<3
