my chihuahua would never use a puppy pad. so anytime i would get the chance, outside we would go. he still has accidents in the house when we are not there for long periods of time. my best advice for you would be watch every move they make. dont let them out of your sight bc they have such a small bladder they cant hold it very long. and also if you see them take a drink immediately take them outside or to their designated potty place bc they will go probably within one minute of taking a drink.

Chihuahuas are between the main perplexing canines to housebreak. in spite of this, you may desire to be VERY consistent. in no way permit a dogs have run of the homestead if it may't be trusted. save the dogs on a leash or restricted by some potential, like in a small perplexing floored room or in a kennel once you won't be in a position to be observing the dogs. Get the canines feedings and potty breaks on a schedule which will accomidate the two you and your dogs. first difficulty interior the am, positioned the dogs outdoors. Then each few hours based on the canines age. For an extremely small dogs, i does no longer anticipate it to have the skill to hold it for greater beneficial than 4-5 hours, different than over nighttime. WATCH to make certain that the dogs does look after "enterprise" mutually as that's outdoors. some canines get busy snooping and forget what they have been available for, then next difficulty they comprehend, they are back interior the homestead and nonetheless would desire to pee or poop.... stay consistent and make sure you freshen up aspects the place injuries have handed off incredibly properly, to steer away from re-soiling the comparable aspects. in case you would be long gone for longer classes of time, that's beneficial to furnish a potty preparation pad for the dogs, as I mentioned, chihuahuas are no longer the final at keeping urine.... Prevention is the final key nonetheless, do no longer use the potty pad as a customary homestead preparation gadget nonetheless except say you paintings 8 hours an afternoon and comprehend you will no longer have the skill to return homestead for potty breaks... then enforce those into your preparation. desire this helps. I have 2 chihuahuas and crate trained them both. Just take them to their potty spots as soon as you let them out of the crate, then continue to do that every time you let them out. Mine trained really well & fast.. we do still have some accidents . but I also use a puppy pad for the smaller one.. she does fine with that. hope that helps , good luck....

I have one a male and yes they do have accidents but they like to go outside too. I would suggest a puppy pad for in the house just in case of accidents . put them on there when you let them out of the crate and all should be fine . I take mine for a walk everyday and he usually goes outside but if needed he will use the pad. good luck and i hope I helped.
