There's nothing wrong with questioning the religion you were brought up to believe, or even one that you've taken up. It's natural and very sane to have doubts about these things, so it's your choice to actually believe in anything or not. No one else can force you to believe something you don't or make up your mind for you. Your family should accept you and your beliefs for what they are instead of shun you like that.

Well, it's not unusual for people to question their faith, explain to them why and tell them that you might need help with a little boost. Me not having a religion scares people until i tell them that i do believe in a supernatural spirit just not from a book that was written in a mans mind and hand. And then they calm down and let me be. Believe in whatever you believe, and if you have faith in whoever you have faith in, then that supernatural spirit that you believe in will probable make you feel a little better. Everything that happens in our lives will either bring us up or knock us down, it is how we deal with those events that will make us stronger. Like what Confucius said, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. So maybe this is a test of your faith. . . you decide on what to do with this test.

Live for yourself. I can never understand the intolerance of many Christians, when Jesus preached tolerance. It makes no sense. You will find your way, whether you are a believer or not. Don't be "guilted" into faith. Live your life with honesty and integrity. Even if you don't believe, but if you do want to believe, ask, pray, whatever, that your faith comes back to you.

They aren't ashamed...they are scared. Religion causes fear; relationship with God is what increases your faith. I didn't grow up in the church, but came to know the Lord in my teens; so knowing what to believe or how to act has alway been a struggle for me too. Now that I am older (45), major life events and well meaning religious people have cause me to question my faith many times also. I even went to bible college to reconnect; but I finally realized that it is MY faith, and MY relationship with God. Others, even those who share your chosen faith, can not create in you thier relationship with the Lord. It is a daily interaction with God. He is more concerned with a honest and real interaction with you than he concerned that you please your family. He can handle your doubts, your fears, your questions, even your anger; so don't be afraid to be real with God in your prayers. He knows you and loves you and allows you to go through doubts. Remember Thomas in the bible. He totally doubted, but God met him where he was and didn't disown him for doubting. Life is hard, sometimes unbearably hard, and we all doubt; so be patient with yourself and know that everyone has to find thier own truth. Hang in there!

Your family has accepted a tenet and are not able to relate to you because it takes a leap of faith which you may not have.
