I'm 99% sure Mikey didn't know, and 100% sure Napa nor Toyota knew.
Somebody in the garage tried to pull a fast one, and probably would have gotten away with it had the Nascar inspector not noticed the substance while installing the restrictor plate.
However...Nascar is REALLY GOING OVERBOARD with the fines, penalties, etc. for all of the race teams. Hey NASCAR....lighten' the *uc* up!

Napa no. Waltrip maybe. But lets face it, anyone who has been around nascar long enough knows that people have been trying to get around the rules forever. The trouble is the Nascar officials have been checking things with a fine tooth comb and adding new rules.

Mikey had alot to lose to cheat and just hope he didn't get caught. He said that he never authorized anything like this but he hinted that someone in his crew did this. And I seriously doubt that Napa would have had a hand in this either. Mikey, Buffy and Ty have been doing this for a long time and I would bet that they didn't know . There's no way a company that big would risk this kind of a scandal. Be patient, I bet before Sunday comes, the truth will be revealed.

I doubt NAPA was involved.
However, I'd have to say Michael probably knew about it. Something ppl don't realize is that the fuel they cheated with has an odor. Afterall, that odor is what got them caught. The only way Michael wouldn't have known they were running that kind of fuel is if he is never in the shop with the car when it's running. Since that is very doubtful, I'm going to have to say he probably knew about it. Something you learn from being around dirt track cars which some run alcohol and such mixtures with their fuels, not only do you notice the odor, but in an inclosed area with the car running it also causes your eyes to burn. My personal opinion is that he more than likely knew about it.

I DON'T THINK EITHER WALTRIP OR NAPA KNEW ABOUT THE CHEATING BECAUSE OF THEIR PAST HISTORIES. THATS WHY TEAMS HAVE A CREW CHIEFS SO THEY CAN MAKE TOP DECESSIONS OF THE MECHANICS OF THE CAR--WALTRIP AND NAPA REALLY DO NOT HAVE HANDS ON WHEN IT COMES TO THE MECHANICS OF THE CAR -CREW CHIEF DOES AND CREW MEMBERS.

I don't believe a sponsor like NAPA would know that much specifics to begin with. Waltrip may or may not have but it isn't up to him... plausable deniability

Nope...but it WAS ALL GOOD.....I guess Mikey wanted to see if he could hit the wall twice in one week...AND He did, maybe NAPA parts weren't selling that well, so they had a SURPLUS of parts leaving the warehouse OVERSTOCKED...but.... Everythings OK now and they can bring in June's inventory

While I find it hard to believe a crew chief would do anything to 'soup up' a car without the driver knowing (since the driver would have to know when he is actually rolling around the track at 190+ mph)... I don't have too much trouble believing the sponsors probably didn't know.
