I have found that material objects don't make you happy. The buddhists have good techniques on happiness, although their reincarnation stuff is BS.

The problem is figuring out what happiness is and what makes us happy.

Yes, the main goal in life is, consciously or unconsciously, the pursuit of happiness. And yes, truly intelligent beings will realize that true happiness cannot be achieved through material objects or by anything outside the body and mind. However, the pursuit of true happiness will lead one to gain true knowledge which will ultimately lead to the realization of the existence of reincarnation. Reincarnation must then be taken into consideration in order to achieve TRUE happiness.

Happiness is a nice goal, I wish you well in your endeavor. My goal would be to raise my sons to successful adulthood, and not repeat the mistakes of my parents in the process.
