I have a good friend who recently asked me if it would be a good idea if we got married. I have been friends with her for years, and we discussed it the past. She is going through a lonely time. Anyway, after that conversation, we had another. She started mentioning things like the fact that she swims in her underwear sometimes. She wonders if I skinny dip or whether I would do so. She also made the comment in a joking way that I am not fulfilling my purpose in life by giving my sister a sister in law. Why does she say such things now?

Like you said she is going through a lonely time right now and isn't really thinking clearly. Just give her some time and she will realize you make better friends than anything else. Or you could just sit down with her and tell her it makes you uncomfortable when she talks like that. If she is really a good friend she will understand. Good Luck

She's lonely because she's not in a relationship right now, and people often tend to drift back to someone who seems safe from the past to make them feel better through those times.

Maybe being around you for awhile she knows who you are. She is probably hinting that she wants to go out with ya. In a way i can tell that she likes your family and she feels very comfortable with you. Seriously.

Listen dude. She is looking for company. If you like her then enjoy if you just take her as a friend make it clear. After all I believe you don't want to sour a good friendship.

well maybe she is just depressed or maybe she likes you for real and that is why she is saying this stuff. Ask her and find out what she is thinking and feeling. Good luck!

methinks she's trying to send you signals. you need to tell her your relationship isn't going to go there (in a nice way of course) to get her to stop.

Because she wants to be more than just "good friends", don't you think?
