I would say that you are the one without an open mind. Consider the facts and research the science behind the Holy Bible and what is said in it. Everything that can be proven, is proven by modern science and common knowledge. On the other hand, I don't believe that religious traditions have any place in our society or in the church. The Bible proves itself to be true time after time but demands more than a shoe-string faith.

While I think that calling believers "dumb" is a little harsh, I do get your point.
They have been taught from a very early age that what the Bible teaches is a fact, and that to question the word of God is a sin that will lead to an eternity of torment. They fear having an open mind, and one cannot really blame most of them.
To Gary and all those who believe that Atheists are ignorant, watch the following video:

There is no science whatsoever that proves the existence of a higher power. Despite the claims of "real science" doing so.

Must you insult another you don't agree with? Say that to the two coaches who led the SuperBowl teams, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Mark Wahlberg, AC Green for example? You they're 'dumb, spoofed religion followers'?

Great scientists like Johannes KEPLER saw God's magnificance and constantly gave praise to God Almighty for his wonderful laws built into nature. He was a creationist.
So was Isaac NEWTON.......and he wrote 1 million words about his LITERAL belief in the Scripture. He was a creationist.
" I have a fundamental belief in the Word of God....I study the Bible daily". - Isaac Newton
The electromagnetic equations of James Clerk Maxwell attest to the Magnificant mathematical inginuity of the Creator.
He was a Creationist.
Shall I go on with Louis Pastuer...and thousands of other Christians who were great scientists..and contributed greatly to future society.?
Its only the ignorant who can't figure it out. Please get an education.

Which is why Vatican II was made. :) Many stick to the old traditions but the Vatican has made revisions of that. Before, homilies lasted for hours, now it is limited to around 5 to seven minutes? Learning Latin wasn't a necessity anymore to be a follower of Christ. Yes, we can't change everything but we've changed what we can.:)

God doesn't change.
His Word doesn't change.
Truth doesn't change.
Isn't an "unseen trustworthy myth" an oxymoron?
