Increased uses of pesticides such as DDT.
More irrigation, lowered water tables, increased salinity of fields and water sources.
Singling out certain crops for mass growing lowers agricultural diversity. This means loss of certain genetic traits on nonpreferred strains of crops. Also, if a disease or pest REALLY loves the preferred crop, then we will be faced with a real problem.

The effects of a fully effective green revolution will be the shrinking of civilizations environmental footprint on earth as much as possible. Meaning the least amount of sprawl, the least amount of pollution and emissions, the cleaning up of pollution and emissions as there released as well as the cleaning up of pollution and emissions that have been released in the past, the restoration of all ecosystems and habitats, the replanting of all forests, the restoration of all species to there natural numbers, health and ranges. Of course all this will have to be done without curtailing peoples freedoms or rights or the worlds economy. This can be done through political reforms leading to better policies which will lead to new greener technologies and products such as more fuel efficient and lower emissions power plants, trains, planes, ships, tractor trailers, buses, and passenger cars and trucks and effective environmental protection, conservation and restoration programs and the abandonment and banning of old dirty technologies and ineffective or non-existent environmental protection, conservation and restoration programs. Political revolutions, different economic systems or bigger government aren't needed, as things can be done by reformist legislation and open bid contracts which will help nations economies as well as there environments.
