i'm currently here in england as a visit visa holder, i'm wondering if i could change it to working visa so that i could also work.

You can change your visa to a work visa no problem, as long as you find a company willing to sponsor you for a visa, in a position that the sponsor has an impossible time filling with someone from the EU.

In reality this means you need several years experience in a skilled job (teacher, nurse, research scientist, certain types of computer programmer etc), or to be a very senior employee, at board level, in any field. You are not going to get permission to stay on to do office work, labouring, restaurant work etc.

Its tougher than it might first seem.

no you can not. you got visa as a tourist..
