Why not just read and learn about religion. Find out why other people believe what they believe There have been some pretty smart people who have believed in God - scientists, philosophers, mathematicians, etc. Some fairly smart people have dedicated their lives to trying to understand God.
Now, if you want to sit around and pick apart belief systems - or argue over whether there is convincing enough proof or evidence for people's beliefs, etc., you'll be able to find fault everywhere. However, finding fault is easy; achieving understanding is difficult.
It's like the way certain "creationists" attack the theory of evolution. They argue from ignorance (not really having even tried to learn the basics) and then find fault wherever they can, thhereby proving that what they started out disbelieving is in fact not true. That's what you're doing with religion. You really haven't opened a book about the religions you are scoffing and finding fault in. You're out here arguing back and forth with people who say they believe, but may not be scholars or great communicators.
If I were you and wanted to understand Christianity, I would go to the bookstore and buy an annotated Bible. Look through the stacks, though. There are several versions available. Read it with an open mind, and don't just pull passages out and go "ah hah!!" - remember, you're not the first one whose read this, and there are people out there who have researched and answered probably every question you have. And, there are some mysteries out there. The Bible doesn't hold all the answers, and what answers it does hold have been subjects of debate for well over 1500 years now.
Understand that you do not have to envision God as an old man in the sky, or heaven as a place of clouds, harps and trumpets. Those are man's interpretations, not required. Remember, God can't be seen - he was not to be pictured in a graven form - he's an entity that we don't and aren't expected to fully understand.
Also, the truth you arrive at may not be the same as the truth the people here are talking about. And, there's nothing wrong with that. All you can do is search in good faith. Maybe you'll get an answer, and maybe not.

If you don't have a Bible, get one and read and study and ASK God to show you. John 3 :16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." A person has to look within and believe by faith. Many don't believe because God is not something they can reach out and physically touch. If you will read what Christ taught in the book of John, and see what he did for you, and for me, then you will understand Get in a good Bible teaching church, one who teaches about Christ and worships him. Church isn't a social club so make sure you pick one that has a pastor that loves the Lord and preaches as he should. Only you can do this yourself, I can't do this for you or anyone else. Each individual has to believe and face God on his/ her own when that time comes. Please don't wait to discover how great God is.

Faith comes through the Word of God, the Bible. If you want your eyes to open to the truth, then take a look at what God reveals about Himself, you and His will for your life. A good place to start is the Gospel of John.

Hi 6000,
I will only suggest what I have before. You need to first, learn to trust in yourself. Recognize what makes you feel good and what makes you feel disturbed. Ask yourself why. Learn first to trust in your conscience, avoid rationalization. That is the beginning. Then you, in being true to yourself, honestly pursue truth through the steps I have given in various answers before relying not on faulty wisdom of men but trusting in your own judgment, search, study, ponder, work it out in your own mind. Apply that which you feel is right, if then you still feel good then go before our father as you would have with your earthy father when you were a child seeking truth. Do it willingly, with a sincere heart. You will receive a confirmation.
This I know to be true!

I see it like this, One man did a terrible thing and his brother said "brother don't you fear the lord? This bother said "Who?" The error had begun. The secret was hidden, from too many was taken the understanding, Down went the thoughts of man, yet now risen again wisdom and a golden age is at hand. You already know the secret! What is there to fear if your intent is in the right direction? I believe the secret is understanding how he exist. To understand how he exist one must put their intention to good and just pay attention. As you wish We only fear something we don't understand. "The secret of the LORD is with them who do not fear him but understand they will fear if they break the law". There is no secret message here if we simply understand the lord. Understanding him is not so easy though. One man did a terrible thing (he did not have knowledge or understand how the Father exist as all things) and his brother said "Brother don't you fear the Lord? (because he understood this unity) This bother (the man who did the terrible thing) said "Who?" (When he was asked about fearing the Lord, thus indicating that he had no knowledge of the Lord. We could also say he did not "know" the Lord). The error had begun (he was the first man to have this understanding hidden within him because he had not recognised nor been shown how to recognise it). The secret was hidden, (now move forward in time) from too many was taken the understanding (or not given). Down went the thoughts of man, (without understanding this unity men are lawless) yet now risen again, wisdom (understanding this unity with the father’s love of truth) and a golden age is at hand (our current time). You already know the secret! What is there to fear if your intent is in the right direction? I believe the secret is understanding how he exist but it is and has always been enough to "believe". To understand how he exist one must put their intention to good and pay attention. Then in time he reveals himself when we realise we are his child and love him as he deserves.

Yeah I used to feel like that. Like I couldn't find Him. I doubted His presence. But then, one day I started talking to Him in my head and then imagining His answer. Eventually I found out it was His voice in my heart replying. He whispers jokes, words of comfort and love. Talk to Him about anything no matter how insignificant. Focus on His love and not on what scary thing He could do to you. Just remember He died to save you and with that thought be grateful. I suggest Bible studies as well because they help you understand His teachings better.:)

Well not sure how you can trust in God if you don't already believe in Him.
Therefore if you want your eyes opened to the Truth, maybe you should start by seeking God.

When you accept Christ as your Savior you will learn to trust in God. Without Christ it is not possible. I will tell you the truth, though, sometimes with Christ it is hard- but you can only receive truth if you have THE TRUTH- Jesus said- "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father but by Me". Trusting God without Christ your eyes are still closed.

Ask Jesus to be you personal Saviour, surrender your life to Jesus. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, He was crucified to die for our sins, He rose again.
It will be the best decision you will make in your whole life. He said He is standing at the door knocking, all you have to do is let Him in your heart and you will see a big turnaround in your life immediately... Blessings~

Through faith.
The same way that you have faith that there is something called air and that we breathe it.
The same way that you have faith that each time you get up to walk, you will will be able to.
The same way you have faith that when you flick a light switch to the "on" position, it will provide light.
You have no guarantee that any of those things are going to happen--you may lose your ability to breathe through illness or injury; lose your ability to walk; your light bulb may burn out. There are no guarantees, but you just believe it.
No one can instruct you on how to believe in God, and trust comes through having a personal relationship with Him.
If you want Him, He is there for you; ready to take your name into His Book of Life. You have to be willing. He is not going to make you accept Him.
