I have just gone thru this same thing. In MO there is no help thru the state (unlike some other states which provide homeschooling programs in certain districts). I found several home schooling programs on the net, but none were based out of MO. One of the advantages of choosing a program is that it doesn't matter where u live, schooling can be completed and submitted thru the internet. Some of the programs have DVDs that u can watch to teach lessons, others have paper lessons that u follow. U don't state how cheap is cheap, but I'm assuming as close to free as possible. Most of the programs r related to some religion. The 1 we chose was Seton Catholic Homeschooling program (but then we're Catholic). It costs around $700 a year, but they have an easy payment plan after the initial registration which depends on the grade level. There is another very good program called ABeka. It 2 is religion based. Ur other option is to ask ur local school district if they know of any homeschooling groups in ur area or to go to any private schools and see if any of their students have come from a home school setting.

Go to HSDL (Home Schooling Defense League) and look up your states' programs. There are providers who furnish the whole curriculum, a computer, etc., but they are basically public schooling at home. If you desire that for your child, it's great.
Also try doing a search on Yahoo for Sandra Dodd. Yahoo has email groups you can join for HSrs,too.
Take a long time making the decision, though, and keep your kids' needs and interests in mind.
Good luck.

If you're really ambitious, there are many homeschool parents who create their own curriculum with resources available online and at their local library.
