When I'm 80, I plan on having an ink suit on. Hopefully I will have mastered my guitar by then. Party at my place!

I am the most indecisive person I have ever met in my life. I have put a lot of thought behind the tattoos I want but haven't actually gotten any, I have been present for my friends during their tattoos and seen grown men about faint but that's not the part that scares me. It's the indecisiveness I never want to regret it so I feel like I have to be 100% sure before I get any thing done. As of right now I'm about 99.9% sure of what I want so hopefully I will pull the trigger on my Birthday this year(three weeks away) it's my 23rd and every year since I turned 18 I've sworn that I was going to do it on my Birthday.

I think everyone says that just because its the only reason they think it'd offend someone to not get a tattoo.
There's never really cause behind that assumption, just that someone thinks its distasteful and because they don't like it, the person getting tattooed shouldn't either...because it'll always be there.
I've never really heard a good explaination as to why one shouldn't get a tattoo.
God hates you, AIDS, regret, body deterioration...
If you're smart about it, know what you're getting into and what to look for by your artist, there's no reason to not get tattooed.
This might sound incredibly naive but "permanent" really isn't even an issue anymore.
I don't say that with the thought of getting tattoos you regret, but if you end up regreting YOUR decision, there are ways of backpeddling.
I love the comment "ew, are you going to want blotted out tattoos when you're old and wrinkly?!"...You're going to be old and wrinkly. There's nothing appealing about that circumstance. Tattooed or not.

I think its just because a lot of people don't understand that even as you grow and change as a person, the tattoo will serve as a reminder for whatever reason you gave it. The tattoo is like keeping a pictorial journal and I think the idea of permanency might even scare some people. Everyone is different and has their logic for everything, but some people are just asinine

many people get a tattoo without considering this. Tattoo artists will tell that there are hundreds of clients who come back later and say they wish they had not gotten the tattoo, or had gotten a different one.
There is an entire industry around Tattoo removal, too. Does this say something? I'm not against tats, I'm all for them - when they are thought out right and done right and executed right.

Because, when you grow up and your life circumstances change or you become serious about getting a worthwhile career or get into a high-profile pasttime such as politics or entertainment--or the "fun" of a tattoo is no longer considered chic, you might rethink the wisdom of having a tattoo. Fads and styles change. When you're in your 40's, it may no longer seem cool to you.

That reason is probably targeted at people who are "on the fence" and aren't quite sure if they want to get a tattoo. It's a good idea to tell someone that they really shouldn't get a tattoo unless they're 100% sure they want to get it, and one way to get them to back-pedal and think about it is to bring up that very issue of permanency because it makes these not-so-sure people think about the fact that once they have it they can't simply wash it off. Make sense?

Because when I am old and in a nursing home, I don't want a sagging tattoo on my butt.
How about the guy who gets his gf name tattooed on his arm, only to have her break up with him the next day. What about his next gf? Maybe he should only look for women with the same name as his gf. Then what if his gf name is uncommon, like Zenobea? He is dam*ed to a single life for all eternity

Something that SOOOO important to you at the moment may not be as important 50 years from now. How can you be so sure that you'll want that mark on you forever?
Furthermore, what happened to your body being your sanctuary? Purity is of the utmost importance. You don't need to mark it.
Also, a lot of people get tattoos because they feel that they'll have more individuality, but trust me, you are as unique as you'll ever be. You don't need a tattoo.

im with u. if u want the tat get it. i got one now and i love it and will love it for the rest of my life! yeah it hurt but the pain was worth seeing it everyday and knowing what it represents to me. I didn't get it to be like everybody else or for individuality, i got it for representation of what was going on in my life and to come. I am wise where i put my tats though and i make selections that no one else would have thought of. But when u are securely in where u want to be in life it does not matter where the tat is (for everyone that keeps thinking that tats play a major role in getting a carreer). I have a carreer in medical billing and my tat is visible sometimes and i have my labret pierced and i have no problems and didn't have any problems getting hired or taken seriously. It is not the tat that makes u. U have to sell urself!
