what does PITA mean? (Used as a name and on a licence plate)

I know what pita bread is and it's refering to a persons name not as food

I would assume Pita refers to the bread most previous posters are talking about. Now if it is indeed spanish it could also be a nickname to the name Lupita (Pita for short). Just giving you some more ideas, hope it helps
