"you are in light , others are in dark , you are unique others are morons, you are special others are dumb."

This is the way every cult religions act's to isolate their followers apart from the rest of the world , and brainwash them step by step.

Why the christian / Islam followers think - they are unique and the outside world is moron. they are gifted . .? out side world is evil and scary place :-)

The pastor will hug the follower and " I'm happy you have come " you are in light - they are in dark ?

I think that more and more Christianity is moving away from love and becoming more cult like. Only with conscious efforts can we change this.

the other day I had a relatively long e-mail discussion with someone from here who had referred to themself as born again christian I believe.

I seem to have stepped on a nerve...with some rather un-spectacular comments basically that MOST religions would say were true.

I think the person might have really been an atheist, at heart.... was slightly confusing.

they were very fixated and attached to the idea that THEIR way gave xyz thing, and that the others didn't, and the mere idea that most people had that attribute, *even* if it was provisioned that it was dormant in most people... seemed to totally freak them out.

I am not christian, but I think in a sense you could say that any religion/spirituality that claims exclusive, absolute truth, is definitionally UNtrue.

but I do not think that ALL of christianity is cult-ish, I think its really just specific to the various extremists, *mostly*.

I think there are some non-extremist groups that are cultish, or a little closer than *I* would be comfortable with.

First of all somone asked the exact same question with the same wording so how bout read the answers to that same qestion you copied. Then a cult is one that isolates it's members from the world I don't see this in christianity all religions will say they are different then people who aren't of that religion. Then a cult will usally have tacts on your life and manage your goods, christianity does not do this. Theres more things that would make out a cult which just doesn't fit christianity.

Nice try but you might want to educate yourself next time before spewing your judgemental crap. Christianity doesn't teach that only Christians are special/unique and doesn't isolate it's followers. As for the pastor welcoming and hugging them, you must live in a sad world if this doesn't happen somewhere in your life.

And FYI, Islam and Christianity are 2 very different religions.

I think you have seen a one sided point of view. I mean dont get me wrong some people are like that. I am a born again christain and have seen that. But just because several people gain that reputation to base those thoughts on are a bit harsh. I believe in salvation and that we all need to recieve it to go to heaven. Because God could not keep Lucifer in heaven becuase he was corrupt and ruining everything God created, so he kicked him out. Now God has to treat us fairly so if we rebel against him and do not humble ourselves to him we have to recieve the same punishment. But i do not believe we need to seperate ourselves from the "world". When Jesus spoke of seperation he spoke of us keeping ourselves from things not people. people misunderstand this. Jesus wanted us to go into the darkness and share his light not seperate the two.
