According to census figures, there are 36 million people in California. Figure about 50% of those are women, give or take. That's about 18 million million women.

Just a side note, if you're looking for a good ratio: According to the Beach Boys song, "Surf City", it's 2 to 1 (2 girls for every boy). I don't know if it's true, but you can go to Huntington Beach and check it out for yourself. Sometimes it seems that way down by the pier.
