Group B Strep is notorious for causing Cellulitis particularly in the extremities. I've seen instances where folks had to have surgical debreeding of the area. I'm an old jaded MT who cultures and works with this stuff, even I was taken aback on how invasive Cellulitis caused by Group B Strep can be.

You can be hospitalized for a staph infection of the leg but you don't get strep in the leg. Strep bacteria is in the thoat. The staph bacteria is something we all have in our bodies and it is the cause of pimples and boils but when it gets out of control then you may need to be in the hospital for antibiotic therapy to get the problem under control.
