It is 5 days old, solid black and blue coloring, my artist told me to heal it with vaseline intensive care avanced healing fragrance free lotion only. The scab that is on it is no thicker than a couple pieces of paper, and I have not picked it off, but about 75% of it has came off on its own will.

I've went to my artist and he assures me it will fill in and get brighter, and if it doesn't he does touch ups for free. The guys isn't a scratcher, I've seen some of his work on other folks and it looks fine. I just want to try to confirm what he says is true.

Tattoos always look weird while they're healing, especially when the scab's half dropped off. I'm always convinced there isn't really a tattoo under there at all!

Generally, the healed tattoo will settle down to be even in colour but slightly more muted than on the day it was done - purely because a lot of what you saw then was on the surface of your skin, whereas the healed tattoo will be part of your skin. Bear in mind also that beneath the scab the new skin will often be dry and flaky, making it look as though there are white bits in your tattoo when there aren't really.

It sounds like you've done all the right research to have confidence in your artist, so all you can do at this point is to wait and let it heal. It is normal for tattoos to need a bit of touching up, especially if there are large areas of colour involved, but you won't be able to tell this until it's healed. Wait a good month, and then see how it's doing.

Hope this helps!

I answered you before and it does not change even with more information you have provided.

You cannot tell the final outcome of a tattoo at day five. Just keep following your tattoo artists' advice and stop worrying.

As I said, the epidermis is going through a lot of changes and is still opaque when the peeling is taking place. You can't see well to the dermis. Also, after it is peeled, it can look hazy, shiny, etc. The best artists in the world lose color sometimes here and there - it is because they take great care NOT to overwork the skin. Better to spend five minutes filling in a bit at 4-6 weeks later, than to risk scarring.

Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Forenote: even scratchers get lucky occasionally. I'm not a piercer, but half a dozen friends of mine are walking around with piercing-ala-Mandy.

Anyways, I don't know if it's splotchy because the scab is there or because you had some ink fall-out. Either way, you'll have to wait untill it heals more to touch it up, so don't start worrying yet. No, they don't usually darken and brighten with time, quite the opposite.

And as for the scabs, take yourself a nice soak in the tub. Like when you were a kid with a skinned knee and the scab fell off in the bath, just soak it off. Doesn't hurt it a bit. DO NOT pick at it, cuz that's bad. Once it gets past the itchy/flakey stage yo should know if it'll need touchups, and, just so you're aware, needing a touchup is not weird or bad at all.

The aftercare sounds OK to me. I don't yet have tats so I don't know exactly what's best, but I've heard good things about fragrance free lotions. As long as you're not using straight up Vasseleine. Clogs poors, you know.

Would the tattoo be of a star ? What you need is called Aquaphore. It is a lotion found in the baby stuff and in some cases with all of the hygiene items. It is natural for it to happen especially if you were bleeding and try not to pick or scratch because that removes the color from the area. Also when you takes showers make the water a little hotter than normal and go over the tattoo with a wash cloth and regular soap nothing with dyes or perfumes in it. I had a guy do mine and that happened but it is great now

Remember you still have dried blood and puss in your poors from the tattoing. Once this is cleaned (after the initial work and healing time) you will get a better look at the true colors. Sometimes you have to get it touched up because, for some odd reason, skin does not always absorb and/or display ink evenly throughout...thus, making some tats splotchy and colors vary...

if he is offering to touch up for free...I think you're good. tattoing is an injury to your skin and you have to wait and see what your skin does after it is completely healed.

It may fill in...it will get more clear but other then that when it is all healed.... if it looks bad tell him to fix it...usually....depending on who you go to... they will touch it up for free or for a small cost. Don't worry, it will turn out fine!

It took nearly two weeks for the tattoo I have to heal up completely. Just give it time.

Sounds like it should be fine. Sometimes, skin rejects ink. My skin won't take red. If it doesn't take, ask him about different types of ink, or maybe a different color of blue?? Free touch-ups is a plus!! :)

if the colour is missing the colour is missing, its not going to magically fill itself in. It might be the skin simply flaking off and looking a little white. If he guarantees it dont worry about it, just rememebr to go back in about a months time to get it done if it needs it.

you will have a scab and the tattoo will look bad for about 2 weeks while the top layer of skin falls off. keep it moist with lotion and clean with anti-bacterial ointment. some of the color might fall out in which you would need a touch up, but that is nothing out of the ordinary.
