Recover Files?
Even if your Computer was re-formated or you deleted a file(even from your Recycle Bin), you can still recover it with a 90% chance of being intact...as long as you just stick to one way of doing things.

I perform simple computer forensics. Which involves recovering files from damaged hard drives or formated HDs.

I use a Program called ONTRACK Easy Recovery
http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecoveryprofessional/

It works flawlessly and it has only failed me once, due to the fact the customer just kept playing around with all sort of FREE Software thus corrupting or making some files unrecoverable.

There are other cheaper options that Ontrack Easy Recovery, But to be honest...I have never tried them.

Check this Yahoo Search on "Data Recovery"
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22Data+Recovery%22+software&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

Or Maybe someone else is able to recomend another option.

I am not sure what you are trying to say. Did you format the drive and then reload Windows and it is missing files or did you format the drive and reallize you had some files on it that you need. If that is the case, don't write anything on the blank disk and take it to a computer place that has the required recovery programs to do this. It will most likely be expensive too, if that is the case.

if you have windows 95/98 you can the use UNDELETE command or if your using ME/XP you need to download or buy recovering software, some are free if you look online. Just so u know, no matter how many times you format or delete a file its still there, windows just marks the file as deleted and hidden so you don't see it take up space.

Knoppix live, which is an operating system that runs off your CD rom drive, without being installed on the hard drive, may work, depending on the method you used to format.

If you re-installed on the same drive you are probably out of luck, your data is lost. If you have not yet re-installed try a hard-drive recovery service.

Try to get a copy of Hiren's Boot CD.
It has just about every utility that you will ever need.
