An easy chocolate cake recipe is a one pan cake, all mixed and baked in the same pan. You can use your teddy bear pan- if it's larger than an 8 inch pan you may have to double the recipe

INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350°. Heat oil and unsweetened chocolate in an 8-inch square baking pan in oven until chocolate is melted, about 4 minutes. Add water, sugar, egg, flour, salt, baking soda, and vanilla.

Using a fork, beat until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. spread evenly in the pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool

Happy Birthday

I would use a store bought cake mix. But what I would do to make the shape, would be to use 2 cake mixes. Bake one cake in a rectangle baking pan. Then bake one cake on a round cake pan (for the head) and use the rest of the batter in cupcakes (for the paws) After the cakes are baked and cooled, cut off the rough edges of the rectangle cake to form an oval body for the teddy bear, frost all your cakes and then assemble on a serving platter then decorate to make the details. It will turn out really cute =)

I made cakes from scratch for years, but I finally figured out nothing beats Duncan Hines.

What is wrong with Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines? That way you can put more effort into decorating it.
