Tatt brat and Deb give the best professional advice. Zombie and BroKe are grade "A" piercing advisers. There are a few "experienced collectors" here with many great things to say, who offer up some good opinions.
Somebody, Rider, Kristina 807, I know I'm missing a few. Good luck.

I'm pretty new to Yahoo Answers (only been on here for a few days) so I'm not sure who has the best advice. But I do see that there are quite a few tattoo enthusiasts in the tattoo section and whatever question you have or advice you seek I'm sure everyone will be willing to share their own opinions and experience. Some answers will be better than others, but you won't know who will best answer a certain question until you ask it.

I am not sure this is advice but I can give you some tips ? When I went in for mine I wanted the best tattoo guy, then the colors if you are allergic to a dye you dont want it on your body. Also the position of where you want it is always a concern mine is on my right shoulder blade. Is this something you want people to see ? or something you want to hide ? Are you doing it for a person or for yourself ? I had a butterfly with leafs done for my son with his initials and birth day. Just be calm when you go in, take a breath, and tattoo artists will do the rest. If there is something you dont like speak up and tell them. Dont go in drunk either lol a lot of people do and bleed really bad. It is always ok to ask questions.

I can give you pretty good advice considering I've grown up around it and am marrying into the industry.
I can't however help you if you want me to conjure up a tattoo based on your personality without knowing you.
You should tell everyone your idea and what you need help with to get some suggestions.

there are lots of regulars on here that have sound advice, and you can tell the ones of us that have tattoo's and thems that dont, but the best person to give you your advice is your artist, you are trusting him/her to give you artwork you will have forever, you should therefor have a rappor and trust in them, and its great going through the planning to the actual tat itself, general advice is always freely given here but it is wise to double check everything,

u should just make sure u pick something original (not something everybody has). have someone draw the pic for u and do some research on the person that u pick to do ur tat. Make sure u ask to see their portfolio of work they have done on other people and inspect the place. Dont want to end up getting any infections or a bad piece of work.

tatt brat an' me! lol. the best advice you can get is from a licensed professional in person. Online you're just kinda taking pot luck if you dont have any prior knowledge.
