use smaller plates, cutlery, eat alot slower and don't get distracted while you are eating because then you won't realise how much you've eaten.
also take smaller bites and chew for a bit longer. if you just prolong the event of sitting and eating your meal and take alot of time with a small amount of food, your brain will probably just accept what you've eaten as a full meal like you usually have.
it might even be an idea to have a small dariol mould or small sized cup to measure everything you up on your plate. the cup size shouldn't be too big though because that defeats the purpose. and don't restrict salads or vegetables.
you could also have a glass of water before you eat to fill you up so you won't feel the need to grab seconds.

Listen to inspirational music. Read books about underdogs who have achieved greatness. Talk to others who share in your struggle in a place like at the gym. If you see a person always at the gym the same days you are there and they are actually working out and not chitchatting, talk to them. Chances are they share your drive and desire.
Eating normal size portions takes some time to make it a habit. I eat 6-8 small meals a day. From my experience, it took about 4-5 months to get used to it. I'm to the point now where it feels natural to just consume no more than 200-300 calories in one sitting.
Best of luck and determination in all your endeavors!

Try to find some of those plastic plates that are divided into three sections. Divide your food so that the meat is in the largest section and the other foods are in the smaller sections. This helps me to eat less. Also, eat slower, it will make you feel fuller faster.

When I eat out, as soon as the food arrives I immediately ask for a to go container. Cut your food in half and put it away. I do this for everything except salads.
Good luck.
