Sorry, JIBBA, that one is out there.
If animals had a soul, God would not have commanded us to kill and eat them. Also, if animals had a soul, there would be a plan of salvation for their souls, just as there is for ours.

Actually, my understanding of spirit/soul/body does not exclude animals from having a soul. The soul is the part of you that has your thoughts, will, emotions, feelings, ability to reason, etc. Humans and animals have that in common. (plants don't)
The body is just the physical body as we see it. A living thing. Humans, animals and plants all have bodies.
Where humans differ is in the spirit. The spirit is the eternal part of us. While we live here on earth, our bodies is where our soul resides. Once the body dies, the soul can no longer reside in the body, but resides in the spirit. Our spirit will either spend eternity WITH God, or away from God. Spending all of eternity apart from God is the "death" the bible talks about.
I hope this clears up the confusion many have of soul and spirit. i see lots of people using these words interchangeably, but they do not mean the same thing.

According to the Bible (reread the first two chapters of Genesis) all animals have soul. That is the mind with its intelligence, will and emotions. And all animals have that.
What makes man unique, according to Genesis 2:7, it that he is the only creature into which God breathed his own spirit. So man is the only creature capable ot understanding the concept of God, morality, and to make moral choices. It is that which separates humans from the animals. Not our DNA or our .53 milliamp current, which we share with the rest of God's creation.

Wow, man has been struggling with the question of a soul for millenia, and Jibba just solved it in seconds. It's just the .53 milliamps of current running through our bodies!
Genius! Sheer genius!

I hope you are ready when the time comes to meet with the creator. That time will come sooner than you think. "HE will come as a theif in the night". Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. We must HEAR GOD’s WORD. - Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2. We are told to BELIEVE. - To the Prison guard in Acts 16:31 Paul and Silas said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
3. We must REPENT (turn from) of our sins. - Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.
4. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST before men. - Matthew 10:32 "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
5. We are to enter the waters and BE BAPTIZED. - Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
6. We are told to CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL until death. - Revelation 2:10b Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

All living creatures have a soul. Humans and animals are not different in that aspect. What makes us different is we were created in God's image and likeness. We are His sons and daughters.

Watch out for ants on the sidewalk, THEY HAVE SOULS!
Don't hit any bugs with your car on the highway, THEY HAVE SOULS! OH, THE HUMANITY! While it is never nice to hurt animals, it is easy to realize that they are not humans, either.
OH, my God that cat is eating a SOUL!!!

A soul is just our interpretation of our absurd ability to ask ourselves why are we here, and what is the point. I get the feeling we're the only animal stupid enough to try and reason that out, see all the problems it causes us?

You are in denial. Man was made to be rulers over the animals of the earth, not equal to.
