Windows XP Product key code?

Question

I have an orginal genuine copy of Windows XP but I have lost the packet with the product key attached to it. How can I register it? The cd is about 2 years old and i dont have the reciept now.

has the actual cd got any serial codes on it ? ,write down as much i.d from the disc and contact microsoft,the guys there should be able to help you
there are some programs that can identify windows product keys but normally they have to be installed first,and like a few other guys have said,you can use any product key ,as long as its valid,i found a old time p.c on a skip with a product key,repaired it and reinstalled a old copy of windows xp on it just to check it was working ok,tried to use the product key on case,and it worked
what you need to remember is most users will only ever activate their p.c,s once,we are such a "throw away society" that if a p.c messes up we buy a new one,its only the odd 5% of us who upgrade and mod our p.c,s
so keep your eye out,or if you are unemployed when you sign on every few weeks,look at the p.c,s in the office and write down the product keys if you can see them,most places in our towns have p.c,s so look for a product key sticker that is visible and even if you have to go back a few times,memorize the key and write it down outside

Belarc is a free downloadable program that will give you a report of exactly what is inside your computer (CPU, motherboard, RAM, Adapters, cards, etc.; make and model; serial numbers; and all the software installed on the system complete with license numbers. You can get it here:

This should be downloaded and run by everyone. Print out the results and put it in a safe place for future reference (missing product keys; for repairs and replacements; etc.).

That's a tough one!

If you, at least, had the reciept, you could've asked MS to give you a fresh key code!

As it is, I don't think you'll get anything!

You could call their Call Center, that's based in India and give it a try, though!

Yahoo will have reported them to MS already!

If XP is already installed, right click My Computer and go to Properties. In the General Tab it will tell you your product key. It's that simple!!!

cd keys r a dime a dozen.....most of them will activate windows......but chances r that the key that u get will not be validated.....meaning..it will not pass the validation requirements thru microsoft..which means things like windows media player 10 and 11, explorer 7, service pack 2..etc will be denied to u........but there is away to get around that..........e-mail me if u have this problem.......gl

go to my computer click on system information there is a number there under windows xp
when i had to phone Microsoft once this was the number they asked for, i don't know if this is the one your looking for but is worth a try

Everyplace you go, including but not exluding, work, school, the doctor's office, and or the post office, check out the computers there. One is bound to have a CD Key for windows XP on it. Write it down and use that one at home.

there are good cd keys all over the net, you just have to search for them. try looking on limewire, ive found a couple of good ones on there back in the day.

if you have original copy , you must have put the sticker on the PC,, the key is on it to....

or try a search on key-gen windows Xp

try and call the company you bought the computer from or call microsoft and they might be able to ask you some questions and get you the key.
