Where is the best place to have a small tattoo so that it can be hidden when needed and shown when wanted, without getting stretched too much throughout life - with pregnancy/ageing etc. i have a large mole in the centre of my lower back so need other ideas.

What are you getting and why do you want to hide it? I had to agree with my artist, he said, if you're gonna do, be proud and show it. Thus a have a big, colorful one on my tiny girlie wrist, and another on the back of my neck that shows up very obviously when my hair is up, which is at least half the time. I dunno, I just feel like it's not something to be ashamed of, show it if you feel like it. Bear in mind, I work in a very conservative profession, I meet with clients all day long and handle very critical documents, and no one has EVER mentioned or had a problem with my tattoos.

Work the mole into a tat. That could be interesting.

Other places could be like, the hip or bikini border, ankle or foot.

Oh yes, and a word of advice for getting a tattoo. Don't think "small" think "discreate." Biggest regret that I've heard from tattooed people that went for the "small" idea is that they wished it was bigger.

If you have long hair you could do the nape of your neck or something small and cute right behind your ear.
Another place to go with would be your shoulder blades, or even between would look good.
You could also put it on the front of your ankle. I always like to see that tattoo.
Small ones fit perfectly down there.
You could also do the top of your foot too...

the mole wont necessarily stop you, just have to work around it and camouflage, i know a girl who used hers as a spot on a ladybug tattoo.

Ankles can be hidden pretty well under socks or boots, ribs (if you are a real glutton for pain), Thighs, . think of what kinda clothes you wear on a daily basis and where is easy access for you.

upper arm. that's the best for me. It'll show when you wear bathing suits and sleevless shirts & dresses, but I think it also depends on the size. A small tattoo won't look so great on your arm. In that case I would go with ankle.

Obviously, I would avoid the wrist, back of the next, breast, etc.... You can also consider your shoulder blade

I had one done just below my pelvic bone a few years ago. Thanks to a lot of Xmas cheer I am no longer as slim as I was when I got it done but as it isn't on my belly, it hasn't streched.

Plus, only my nearest and dearest sees it on a regular basis or beach goers when I am in a bikini.

I am thinking about getting a 2nd done and I would like it on the underside of my wrist. I have seen girls with them on their ankles but I would recommend that you stay away from bones as it hurts like hell lol.

what about to the side of your lower back or around your hip area? You could get it done on the top of your back but then if your not married or are going somewhere special and wanted strapless dress then it would be visible.

i hate to say it, but anywhere on your leg. im not a fan of leg tattoos...or how about on your back somewhere. lower/shoulder blade? im not really a fan of that either, but it fits your description. really you can put a tatoo anywhere you can hide it, it's all in how conventional you want to be.

My back, shoulders and biceps are covered. When I wear a short sleeve shirt, nobody knows I have a single tat. When I wear a sleeveless shirt or (not very often) don't wear a shirt, you can see them all.
