I suppose it would help, if you were struggling with the question of how the universe was created. Instead of all that 'science' stuff, which just complicates things, you could just clear it up by saying it was all just God.

And if I'm worried about death, I can follow the requirements of the Church, a *legal* apparatus, and then inexplicably I will find myself in Heaven?

How insecure to you have to be, to be a Christian? My guess is very much.

It doesn't really matter, although the more insecure you are the easier it is for a Christian sect to convert you and make you feel compelled to go to church.

Cults use this a lot. Scientology actually has a personality profile right on their home page. They want you to feel insecure about certain aspects of your life and then seek guidance and help from their cult.

Mainstream religion does this a lot too. They often put unqualified inexperienced idiots in charge of 'counseling.' These people spout all kinds of unsubstantiated nonsense to the vulnerable with no real professional basis or credentials to be offering this kind of guidance.

But for some insecure people Christianity provides a lot of support. They don't need to worry themselves about learning science, or understanding the world around them. They can just read some simplistic fairy tale and then dogmatically support it as the divine word of God. This then absolves them of the need to actually think things through or learn about the real complexities of the world.

In order to be of any religious persuasion, you have to be very afraid of the unknown, of death, of what other people think and of your own judgement.

People want to believe in some supernatural force to deliver them from fear but the paradox is, the supernatural and mysterious seems to propagate more fear. Religion is based on "The fear of god being the beginning of wisdom".

I say "the conquering of fear is the beginning of wisdom" and its something you have to do all by yourself...no easter bunny is going to come out of the bushes and save you from yourself. you have to make peace with your own life and evolve enough to not need punishment and reward as an incentive for doing the right thing.

Religious people have very low moral development and need punishment and reward constantly or they will go astray and do something bad. Religious people need to be watched every second even it the watching is done by an imaginary character...just the feeling of being watched keeps these low moral fibered people living a productive life.

They would fall apart if they didn't have something "watching" them to keep them straight and give them false direction (these imaginary voices "talk" to them and even tell them which color car to buy, don't cha know.)

I hope you can evolve already and get beyond fear.

Why ask this sort of question which only invites those that are religious to quote scripture at you and look down their noses with scorn and giggle to themselves that you will burn in hell while they live it up in the fluffy clouds? It would be easier if the Religious stopped trying to convert those that aren't and the aethiests stopped trying to do it back the other way....You, as I do obviously believe that there is a big fat nothing out there after we die - they don't. No-one will ever be able to prove it one way or the other. I shall look forward to my time in nothing and the Religious can look forward to theirs in whatever they want to believe. Rant over.

Maybe you can go for cryogenics. I am sure you have not seen many people converted to Christianity...they are the least insecure people I know. In fact, as a Christian, at times I get annoyed at how secure they act.

Never try to win an argument with an insult or arrogance. That is true insecurity.

Sounds more like you're making a statement, than asking a question.
Please do not confuse Christianity with christendom.
Christendom is a counterfeit!
It is so easy to show up its fallacies.
A genuinely good set of religious beliefs are in harmony with science.

They are only experiencing normal human traits. The fear of death and the unknown are prevalent in ALL human minds. These things make them comfortable

I can't speak for all, but I was VERY insecure before I accepted Christ.

He has strengthened me so much through the years.

To answer your question: You only need admit you are a sinner and accept Christ's salvation. You don't necessarily have to be insecure. You may be the most secure person on earth and accept Christ.

Probably just as insecure as someone who has to get on a message board and try to tear down others' beliefs in order to make him feel better about his own beliefs. Just a guess though...

Well then how ignorant do you have to be to be an Athesist. I see that many, many people are following this one God who has a life after our death. I look around and notice even though there is not evidence He exists he is everywhere: on our time (years like BC), on our money, constantly on the news. Yeah, you are right, let's just not believe. I mean who wants Heaven anyways right? (Do you feel my sarcasm)
