God says He does nothing unless He tells His prophets first. The Bible teaches that God will bring a New Earth into existence, but those who belong to Him have nothing to worry about. He does say what can be shaken will be shaken. Meaning evil will be removed from the earth before Jesus rules and reigns with the saints.

'Care' would imply a need or essence of physical emotion and empathy. Logically, we can infer that if a meteor struck the earth, it would be divine will, not an accident. There is no need for empathy when you control everything. Seek purpose.

If all humans were to die from something like that, then I would think that would be God's plan. Death is part of life... it will be ok.

Short of something that completely destroyed the planet, the human race would continue, somehow.

It looks things are slipping out of his hands rapidly. He just might be glad to have this human problem over with.

Apparently he wouldn't care or he'd claim it wasn't up to him because OBVIOUSLY that comet/asteroid/whatever is a consequence of 'sin' and thus our 'free will'...

...

totally ignoring the fact he gave us the free will in the first place and thus bears some share of fault in all we do with it.

Yes he would care. I don't know what He would do, but He is All-Knowing, so if it would be best to prevent it, He would.
