STEP 1: Hold one chopstick between your thumb and middle finger. Position the chopstick so that it lies at the base of your thumb (on the joint) and at the lower joint of the middle finger. This chopstick shouldn't touch the forefinger. STEP 2: Place the other chopstick between your thumb and forefinger. The side of the chopstick should rest against the tip of your thumb; the top of the chopstick should rest against the pad of your forefinger. STEP 3: Be sure the tips of the chopsticks are parallel. STEP 4: Keep the first chopstick stationary as you practice moving the second chopstick toward the stationary one. STEP 5: Use this technique to position the chopsticks around a piece of food. STEP 6: Hold the food firmly as you lift it toward your mouth

Okay... this is tricky to explain. This is what works for me:
Take one chopstick and put it where your thumb and first finger join. Lay the pointy end of it along your middle finger. This chopstick stays put; you don't move it around.
Take the second chopstick and hold it against the side of your first finger, using the tip of your thumb to hold it in place. This is the chopstick that does all the work. In order to pick up food, move your first finger to move this chopstick around.
Alternatively just look online for diagrams of how to use them - I bet there are plenty...
Good luck!

I'll do my best with these instructions. A kind man in Disney World taught me, Put them between your thumb and pointer finger. Stabilize the one against your thumb, and move the other with your pointer, Kinda like you grip a pencil, just gently. It works for everything except rice, but if you will observe, our Asian brothers and sisters, pick up the rice bowl and use both chopsticks to just shovel it in. I love to eat with chopsticks and always bring mine home from my favorite sushi restaurant in North Carolina. Ever had a seaweed salad? Really good and easy to pick up with your sticks. Sayonara

This is tough to describe, so you should probably look for some images that will show you. I still can't get it right, but my son is 1/2 Chinese so he knows better than I.
You have to keep them separated, and that's what my knuckles don't know how to master.
What ends up happening is that you hold the lower one more or less still, and use your fingers to raise and lower the upper chopstick to pinch and release.
Good luck!

The chopsticks could be placed interior the hand in this order: First, grab the two chopsticks with one hand. next, line up the chopsticks with the different hand. Then, shift the 1st hand to the ultimate place. There you flow! permit's prepare employing the chopsticks: First, carry the better chopstick like a pencil, approximately one-0.33 of how from its actual. next, place the 2nd chopstick against your ring finger, keeping it with the backside of the thumb. it would be pointing the comparable way via fact the 1st chopstick. flow the better chopstick along with your thumb, index, and midsection hands. grab meals between the decrease and better chopsticks.
