Yes. First of all you should know that tartar is not the correct word even though crest uses it. Tartar is really called Calculus which means calcified (hardened) plaque.
What you should do to prevent bad breath is brush your teeth 2 or more times daily (especially before you go out anywhere and before a date). Floss every night to prevent bone loss ( to keep your teeth, so they dont fall out) and gingivitis. AND brush your tongue every morning or night. The tongue is what holds on to bacteria. Think of your tongue as a sponge. Everything you eat is soaked into your tongue and it starts holding on to the food and creating smelly bacteria. By brushing your tongue gently with a toothbrush or specially made tongue cleaner you will improve your breath.

Yes they do! It is important to get a toothpaste and mouth wash that can help rid ur mouth of these.. but The most common cause of bad breath is your tongue and the yuck on it.. my mom always taught us to brush the heck out of our tongue with our toothbrush ..today u can buy a tongue scraper .. i think they suck n still like to brush it.. but u will be able to tell the difference when u have a clean tongue everything tastes different!

yes. so keep brushing, twice a day at least. or after every meal!!! for at least 3 mins. :)
