When creating an excel sheet - for example an electronic weekly diary, how is it possible to ensure that the first row (or column) with the headings - such as days of the week or times always remains visable, no matter how far along the sheet you scoll. (Which would make it easier to fill in - so you don't have to scroll back to check if you are entering things under the right heading).

Highlight the row underneath the row you want to remain visible, go to the window tab and click freeze panes.

Very Simple, Place the cursor on that cell, which comes immediately after the column and the freeze it.

for example if you want the whole of "A" column to be visible no matter how far along the sheet you scroll, then place the curson on the "B1" cell and click windows menu and click freeze panes

this might take place if the cellular is formatted for dates earlier you enter the fee. attempting to alter the format on a similar time as there's a cost interior the cellular won't help, via fact a different inner fee is already getting used via Excel. (some human beings write their dates that way, so Excel obliges. uncertain the form you got 42345, via fact the type 41078 is how Excel internally represents the date June 18 2012.) The cellular should be in many cases or type format *earlier* entering the type you elect.

Select the cells you want to show all of the time and go to the drop down menu titled "window" and select the "freeze panes" option, after you do this 4 lines will appear on the screen, click on these lines and drag them to the location where you want to freeze the panes. This should keep them visable no matter where you scroll the screen. Up and down or side to side. HTH.

Highlight the row or column you wish to always show and select Window -> Split. That should allow you to scroll in the one part of the window while maintaining the "headings" part of the window visible.

Play with it a little — it's been a few years since I've dealt with Office. :-)

Split the screen vertically by dragging the divider (a small vertical bar just to the left of the bottom left corner resize box). Then you can scroll the right and left sections of the window independently.
