Did all three Evernham failures "tarnish Dodge"? Did Reiser "tarnish Ford"?

How about Jimmy Johnson's fraudulent victory in last year's 500? Did that "tarnish Chevy"?

Just curious.

Pen: NEW "Globalization"? Are you kidding me? Dodge is owned by a German company; and MG and Jaguar raced in NASCAR as far back as the 1950s. Either you aren't the NASCAR history buff that you think you are; or you're only concerned about Asian "globalization" while wholeheartedly embracing that of European companies.

Because this is the very first year that they have had cars in the races, and no matter what it isn't going to do as much damage as they think. It's overdone, just like the "Earnhardt" feud, give em fuel, they(the media) and they will make a fire. EVERYBODY cheats, they always have, and any team that says they don't, yeah right, it's just a matter of time before someone else gets caught.

I think it is because this is the first time for Toyota to run Nascar and with Waltrip's cheating move it doesn't look good for a newcomer to the sport. That's why the media is making a big deal out of it. It just might be like that all year long with all the Toyota drivers.

Well, he screwed Toyota's nearly picture-perfect debut!

Here was a brand new team with a brand new car and this s*** happens. It I was an executive for Toyota, this will be the nighmare that I would be afraid of. And it had happened. Now Toyota will be laughed at/mocked by NASCAR's fiercely loyal fans.

It is such a bad thing. I hope the Camry's do well this Sunday...only good solid wins/points can cement in Toyota's position. Otherwise, Toyota will lose respect and be the losers.

Because Waltrip is a 2 time winner and his team felt it needed to put sterno in the manifold to be competitive in a Toyota. It makes them look weak and unprepared to run with the rest of NASCAR.

You have to look at fan perception anyway. If your history of NASCAR is Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart, then maybe you might not see it as much. If you've been a fan long enough to remember Bobby Allison and Benny Parsons, then you probably aren't real crazy about all this "globalization" and "expanding fan base" that NASCAR is doing. Therefore you see the inclusion ofToyota for what it is; a gimmick to make money instead of strategy to improve the series.

Michael is considered to be the face of Toyota racing in the Cup series. He is the main guy who wanted and pushed for Toyota to be in the Cup series and then he turns around and does something like that.

A lot of people don't want for Toyota to be in the Cup series. Toyota wanted to start it off right and with this happening...it doesn't look good for Toyota...AT ALL! Toyota is gonna have to try extra hard now to get a better reputation.

Toyota is new in NASCAR and by Waltrip's team being busted with a fuel additive that makes Toyota look bad as he is a representative of a very new and hard fought entry into NASCAR

Because those are established manufacturers in the sport. Toyota is just starting and is already getted boo'd before this happened. It's a bad start for them. It could be tarnishing for example if Jarrett wins on Sunday people who hate Toyota will say, "he just won because toyota cheats". Even though it's a different team. It's just a bad start is all.

I think penhead said it best. This is an upstart manufacturer in NASCAR Cup racing, and it makes it look like Toyota's engine wouldn't be competitive without a crutch such as using a fuel additive or whatever caused the residue in the intake manifold.

it tarnishes toyota as far as possible future fans, nascar fans are very loyal to their respective drivers, teams, and manufacturers.

for instance alot of nascar fans of Dale Jr. wont drive anything but a chevy.
yeah i know to alot of people that sounds stupid but im talking about die-hard nascar fans, rednecks, good 'ol boys, the fans that started nascar.

but as far as i am concerned Toyota tarnished itself by signing Micheal Waltrip in the first place.
