Cats, well let me see, there are plenty of pet shops in Southampton and surrounding areas....look in your local free pages, or go onto gumtree.com and go to other areas, click on the link to southampton and look there.
The evening echo also have a section for pets wanted....keep checking on there also.
Cant you just tell im a SAINTS fan. Born and bred and will die bleeding red and white.

Look at you local paper's ads, there is always a section of free kittens & puppies. Of course, at least there is here in TEXAS. I commend you on trying to give a mute kitten a home. Pedigrees don't have the sweet personality a mutli breed

Hi Keith, if you can bear to wait abit then there will be lots around in the early spring - they seem a bit short on the ground at the moment.
The only advert I spotted was for an eight month old tabby kitten:
http://pets-adoption-sale.vivastreet.co.uk/cats-dogs+southampton
But you may have more luck looking in your local paper, contacting your local vet or wandering around to your local newsagent & petshop & seeing if there are any adverts in the windows.
Of couse, you could also try the rescue places. This website should have a list of all of them in your area:
http://www.catchat.org/adoption/hants.html
They probably don't have too many kittens at the moment though - as I said, you may have to wait a bit - but in the meantime maybe you could consider giving a home to the wonderful Sophia - who is an extremely unusual cat - in her photo she seems to be a distinct shade of green/blue or cyan! Wow!
http://www.southamptoncats.com/Assets/Cats/Current/Sophia.htm
She's also gorgeous.
There are some kittens on this site (is Wokingham too far?) - but please read the blurb:
http://www.dbarc.org.uk/
Finally, you could also try searching:

http://www.adtrader.co.uk/

Good luck

I've had cats all my life and they've all been strays or cats that were rescued from a shelter.
That would be my suggestion, go to your local animal shelter or humane society, you'll find a lot of cats there just waiting for a good home.
Not telling you what to do, but please consider an adult cat over a kitten.
Kittens have a much better chance being adopted where as older cats tend to be overlooked and eventually put to sleep.
