Just like any breed, there are individuals that do not get along with other dogs, and others that will. It depends on how well they have been socialized and brought up.

Of corse you can get some dog friendly malamutes,it's the way there trained if there socilised well as pups with other dogs of all sizes then they will be happy around the company of other dogs. The reason alot of people think this of malamutes is because they are known to have a dominant streak, esp males, but this can relate to alot of male dogs.Malamutes are strong powerful dogs and if the owner can not cope or handle the dog,a malamute just like any other dog will take advantage of this.

Why would you think that? Any species of domesticated dog has the potential to be very friendly or very vicious. It all depends on their temperament and how they are raised. If you want a malamute to be dog friendly, make sure he or she is raised with other dogs from when they are very young.

The Malamute is one of the larger Spitz breeds and like most of those does not tend to be same-sex friendly. Obviously, there are exceptions but it's something you need to be aware of if thinking of buying one.

i know i few malamutes. The one that i know the best loves my dog (english spriniger spaniel) to pieces and they play fight when ever they can. but she can turn on other dogs if she doesn't like them (as i saw happen tonight) apart from that she is the most loving dog ever (although her owner is the head trainer where she works and has put alot of work into getting her to e so lovley and obedient)

My alaskan malamute *loves* other dogs, especially tiny ones.

I think it's just a matter of socialization and upbringing...

They are a breed which is dominant with other dogs, especially other dogs of their own sex but a trainer or behaviourist should be able to help tone it down.
