I work a 40 week. Sometimes even overtime every once in awhile. My children are old enough though that this does not bother me, or them.. However, when my children were younger, I would work part time and would try to work around my husbands hours, so we could stay at home with our children. I was not much in t the daycare seen. I did not care for them that much, and really could not afford daycare. So we did what we had to do to get by. Now my children are older and by law can stay home a couple hours after school, they are 11 and 14. And I work all days. From 9-5. So they are not home long... My husband does shift work, so they do have someone steady in their lives all the time. Myself or my husband, are always home which I feel a child or children should always have a parent home with them and it is comforting to know that it will be me....
Good Luck With What You Are Trying To Figure Out!!

When my daughter was younger I worked outside the home anywhere from 37 to 50 hours a week outside the home. I got paid by the hour, so anything over a regular 40 hours was overtime. I also had an extremely flexible schedule that allowed me to work split shifts, work through my lunch hour or trade a few hours on Saturday for the same amount of time during the week, that way I never missed any of the important moments of my daughter's life. Now I'm stirctly a 40 hour a week gal.

I work between 40-45 hours a week. Those extra hours are not overtime. It's catch up. I have a 9 year old daughter that I put on the bus every morning, which puts me at 15 to 20 min late and their are the appts. Some can be 30 mins to an 1 hour. Instead of taking sick leave I'm work through lunch and/or work late. My supervisors have been very understanding. Their philosophy is as long as the work gets done, they have no complaints. I'm blessed.

I work 30 a week... 9-4 and my kids get out of school at 5pm (afterschool program) So by the time they get home I have settled out of my work day and started dinner or cleaned up a bit.. I dont work on weekends so that time is there for them. We have alot of other activities we are involved in as a family so we put Tuesday aside as our family day- we stay in that night and watch a movie or play board games.. I make sure we always eat dinner together and share about our days... Family is important !!!! Working is something that most moms must do now a days.. but it doesnt have to wreck the family unit work around your kids schedule... I know some moms that work graveyard and sleep when kids are in school so basically when kids are there at home mom can interact with them

I get paid for a 40 hour work week but like all the other Mom's out there our work day does not end when we get home...heck the work has just begun. I actually look forward to going to work so I can have a break. My hubby is gone Mon-Fri so I am a single parent during the week and it is tough work!! I have a new respect for all Moms out there who are making a go of it. My hats off to all of you!
