Looks like businesses/ industries that are energy hogs or polluters may be getting the message that their activities have consequences that will hurt them financially if they do not mend their ways.
Some are getting ahead of the curve before more stringent reforms are mandated.
Good PR for them & if real improvements are made, its a win/win
situation.
Improvements in energy efficiency, fuel consumption & lowered waste/ emissions would not be an issue if they did not see their bottom line get hit.
Consumer awareness, & demand for "greener" products & services will do the most to get companies to accept enviornmental responsibility.

It causes timber companies to plant trees. After all, if they just cut them until they were all gone, there would be no trees today, and they depend on a continuing supply of trees to stay in business.
