Its normal for girls to take Valentines Day to the heart, take it from a girl who knows. I gave my boyfriend a Valentines Day gift and I didn't get anything in return. But I didn't cry about it. Although Valentines Day is a girl holiday I still gave him something. I wouldn't worry too much about it. But you have all the reason in the world to be upset.

I guess the first question to ask him, if you haven't already, is why he thought it wasn't important to you? Once you have his answer on that, then it will at least be easier to understand and then resolve. I think that it is okay to be upset and let your emotions out and to communicate about it. The girl I am seeing hates Valentines Day and thinks it is a commercial rip off. So, everyone is different. But more importantly, if you don't let him know that it bothered you, then it will happen again, because he doesn't know your upset. Communication is key here. Hope this helps and good luck.

Men often just don't get it when it comes to gifts and the little stuff that women want and need. You either deal with it or get yourself a "sensitive guy".
I've had several of both and I don't base my relationships or my feelings on whether a guy does buy into this kind of thing or not. Much more important stuff on my list.
Decide how important this is to YOU and make your decisions based on that. But whether you have a RIGHT to be upset is immaterial. It just doesn't matter here.
But believe me, it isn't about his love or feelings for you. However, don't think you can change this in him either. He will likely always be like this. So get used to it if you plan to remain with him and stop expecting something that isn't in his nature.

yes and no. you can ask him to make it up to you by taking you out for dinner or a movie, maybe just asking him to get you some flowers.
On the other hand he should have tried to show you or have given you something, because it is the day of love after all.
Next year talk about it before Valentines day to get you something or be a bit forward and plant a seed in his mind by saying you want something, depending on money.

Did you discuss Valentine's Day before hand? maybe he got the impression from you that it wasn't a big deal. I only got a card from my wife and didn't even think she needed to do that.
But we communicated before V-Day and made sure we knew what page the other was on. Communications works so well when it's on.

Well, if he is a nuclear scientist and has his head in the clouds for a good reason, and, doesn't think of such things because his mind is somewhere else, don't be upset, but, otherwise, you are certainly entitled to your feelings. It was rather thoughtless of him, so, know, his behavior, might just be as thoughtless as you suspect...

Yes, you do have a right to be upset. Showing your emotion will teach him not to take you lightly. If you let him get away with this he will say the same thing with birthdays and Christmas so yeah, BE MAD! He will have to apologise!
