Let´s pretend that there was a terrible draught in a village. People were becoming thirsty, sick and dying.
Then one day one of the inhabitants of the city discovered a well. It had plenty of pure and crystalline water.
What do you think he should do?
1. Drink and use the water and keep this knowledge to and for himself?
2. Go running to the village and tell everybody about his discovery and show them the path to the well he found?
3. If the people wouldn´t believe him, what should he do?

I used this parable to draw a parallel between it and the fervour of Christian missionaries.
Knowledge of gods are widespread.
Knowledge that the only God, that created the Universe, loves us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to show His love toward us and to show us a way to happiness, freedom, peace beyond imagination is not as widespread.
That is why we Christians try to tell the ones that don´t know the way to well with the living waters, where they can find it and drink of it.
We don´t want people dying of thirsty.
It is unfortunately that several Christians do not apply their knowledge and love and respect others that believe they have found the path to the well, another path.
These insistent and (sometimes) highly incovenient preachers have nor reached a profoundness to realise that the love of God is very respectful towards the human beings.
Thank you for your attention!
God bless you!

If you go to mission.net you will see all the places in the world where LDS missionaries are going. They spread the gospel of peace, many time to people who have never heard it. They also perform acts of service in the communities in which they serve. They can be called anywhere in the world, and give up 2 years of their lives to do this, at their own expense. They believe that when you are in the service of you fellow man, you are in the service of God.
At least for these LDS missionaries, it's about service.

I suspect they're converting the converted.

No, they don't believe that. They believe that their way is the only way and therefore everyone must do things their way. I think that's a pity, since all religions have wisdom to offer and an open-minded student has a lot to gain from them.

Those that are working on conversions are targetting the illiterates and the poor by luring them with food and other basic needs. We need to check the spread of this menace. The need of the hour is to educate, provide employment, basic needs to all. Every Hindustani should contribute and do seva/ service..

No.
Christianity is an exclusive religion, meaning that they believe people are born evil, and in order to get to heaven they must be saved. They also believe there is no salvation outside of christianity (which is where the exclusive part comes in).

Christians simply do not respect other religions. They will pretend to when it suits them, but in reality they will not stop pushing until everyone thinks like they do, it's a tenet of the religion to convert everyone.

Religion is big business and by converting they are expanding it.If a person converts due to his or her convictions, then it is alright, but if it is done due to incentives it amounts to bribing the person.
