Please don't group us altogether. Not all Christians believe the creationalist view. I'm a Christian and I believe in evolution. God did exhibit violence in the old testament of the bible because man was violent back then. They wouldn't understand Jesus's message of nonviolence back then. But when the time came where man was able to hear it, God expected us to love one another and sent Jesus to tell us that.
There are many people and religions that claim to be Christian and are not. We often get grouped in with their hatred and sin. Like when people accuse Christians of killing people back in the medieval times. No, it was Catholics who killed Christians and anyone else who wouldn't go along with the churches teachings.
I feel bad you have such a bad view of us. Please know that we are not all like that. I love everyone. I'm sorry about them.

I, Peg, a Christian, support evolution...intelligent design is just to playcate the fundies, its not a matter of support its just a concession so that we can move forward with science standards in our schools. In concept it means nothing so there is nothing to prove.
I Peg, a Christian, cannot even remember verses, let alone quote them and if I do quote one its something Jesus did or said. I have only read portions of the Quran in college and went over some Jewish holy texts. I practice Buddhism in relationship with Christianity now. I am a pacifist.
I Peg, a Christian, have never and will never mock any religious leader...I am leaving my thoughts on a "triune" God open for now. I draw a line in the sand at calling Satan a God, sorry.
I Peg, A Christian, Do love my God, Do love my Neighbors (everyone), Do Not sit in judgment of anything but poor spelling and grammar, leave life judgment up to God, treat others with love and kindness, help others...for free...in anyway that I can.
I am a sinner as is everyone, no one better, no one lesser than the other.
There are many, many, many other Christrians like myself. We are not fundamentalists, we do not worship the Bible, sometimes we choose not to even belong to a church denomination.
Now...whatever belief you might be, I challenge you to do the same.
PEG

All religions do that, and always will.
They claim tolerance yet do all they can to tear down other belief systems.
I hate to say it because i know i will get all thumbs down for it, but religion needs to die.
I'll paraphrase a recent movie. In it a character states that a belief is hard to change, but it is better to have a good idea, they are easier to change.
All the different religions seem to feel the need to prove that they are right beyond a shadow of a doubt. No one wants to be proven wrong, than their whole existence is flawed, but that is what is so good about religion. Its a safety net.

Good question, infact what is pointed out by one of the fellow above that why you picked christians only! is a thing you may have missed. But if you calculated properly then it is another case.
Perhaps I think Americans Sides, are more blunt then others, because as a nation they thought themselves as the best.
Mocking at someone's religion or even at a sect is a good example of ignorance.
The era of logics are closed now, nations are again going back to the barbarian approach.
So pass the message of truth, may be one sentence, thats all you have to do, may be it remind you some one's quote, very special to you.

A Christian's job is to spread the Gospel. It may seem like some are 'picking' on a religion, when they are actually trying to state the truth that what is believed by others is a false religion.
However, I agree, some Christians do pick on others and mean to, and that is not right. They should be showing love not hate.

The Christians are a fan of saying one thing, doing another, and then asking why others do not do as Christianity says... I see them talking about how others mock their religion, but I guess they forget that athiests don't claim that they should not mock Christianity.....
Christians have many contradictions in the religion, the biggest being to love everyone as well as to use any means to push Jesus on them, including intimidation.....

Naz, I'm sorry that is the impression left by the Christians you have come in contact with, sometimes we do get a little overbearing with our message. I'm sure that who ever you have spoken with didn't mean to upset you or " pick on" your beliefs. Let me try and answer your questions, which are valid and important questions.
1. Evolution vs. intelligent design: From my prospective, as a Christian, I believe what the Bible tells me in the very first verse, Genesis 1:1," In the beginning God created the earth". Comparing that statement and where it came from (the inspired word of God) to the theory that all things began from nothing and mutated into man, I have far more problem believing the latter. First off, how can something come from nothing? Secondly, there has never been any evidence of a gene mutating into a higher form. Given just these two realities, it takes far more faith to believe in evolution than I could ever muster.
2. In order to prove intelligent design you would first have to prove that God exists and that the Bible is His inspired word. So, let me try and get you thinking on that. Let's suppose everyone was born without eyes. We would never think to ask if there was light because light would not be part of our reality. How then would the concept of light even be thought of? So, this being true, the very question, " does God exist" answers itself by being raised to begin with. God is part of our reality proving the fact that He exists. As far as the Bible being His inspired word, Ican only say that there have been people for hundreds of years trying to prove the bible to be wrong , and to date I know of no one succeding and with the discovery of the dead sea scrolls, even more credance is added to the fact that everything in the Bible is God given truth.
3. With that being said, What is the truth? The truth is that God is one in three personages, that He sent His son to earth (fully man and fully God) to die on the cross,as payment for the sins of man, to raise Him from the dead to sit at His right hand and He wants us to tell the world of His matchless love and grace. God wants us to tell the world that the way to eternal life is through His Son Jesus Christ.
4. Lastly, Naz, you are not my enemie. Christ did tell us to love our enemies, but more importantly He told us to love him because He first loved us. Furthermore, He told us to go into all the nations and make disciples in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Finally, let me appoligize if any of my Christian brothers or sisters treated you with anything but love and respect.

1.lack of faith
2.they haven't find which beliefs they really belief/education
3.there's an emptyness in evryone of us.all of us are actually finding other 'foods' to satisfy our questions.,as Dalai Lama once said religion is like a stack of foods.you try and find the best for you.
4.not everyone of us will sit down and accept all beliefs we receive.naturally we ask:what if....,or it's they any other way.
frankly speaking,i dare say some will have conflicts, they will think if there's anything to settle the conflict,or smooth their minds
Trinuine god. concept is sort of like a man with 3 bodies-yet god is no man,so you cant think of Him with a human .
-every principle is good, but if you,or any one focus on extreme instead of the core,it may be good ,or bad.

think this a generalisation but do admit that in any religion there is an extremely vocal group of lunatics which will always try to say they are right and everybody else is wrong. think they have got so caught up in there being the chosen ones that they have lost sight of the original message which was basically be a good person.

Jehovah's Witnesses are true Christians who preach a message of "good news", and leave all judging for Jehovah and Jesus to perform "on the last day". They do not worship some pagan triune god, but they obey Jesus and give "exclusive devotion" to God.
(Acts 10:36,42) Declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ: this One is Lord of all others. ...this is the One decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead
(John 11:23-25) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” 24 Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life.
(John 12:48-49) The word that I [Jesus] have spoken is what will judge [a person] in the last day; 49 because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment
(John 8:16) if I do judge, my judgment is truthful, because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me
(Matthew 12:36) They will render an account concerning it on Judgment Day
(John 5:22,27-30) [The Father] has committed all the judging to the Son... 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. 28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out... I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
(Acts 17:30-31) God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. 31 Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man [Jesus] whom he has appointed
