well of course an undercover police man is gonna break his silence and COVER just for you...........

basically in the UK it is a voluntary sector of the police force, IE already in the police.

Not sure what you are looking for.

Undercovers are just police officers.

I started in uniform patrol and did it for 8 years before my undercover role.

But working undercover wasn't a constant thing. It depended on the case, etc as to who filled the role. Most of my time was spent doing my own cases.

I enjoyed my time working as an undercover and I must add that I do miss the lifestyle. I am working now in our Criminal Investigations office. It's a huge difference from working undercover.

I will say this, working undercover is not for everyone. Some are good in it, others are just horrible.

As a narcotics officer, who's worked undercover, I would first and foremost say that it would not be a wise decision to post in a public forum what an undercover does specifically so that the specific means of conducting an "operation" are not compromised.

However, it would not be out of line to state that "undercover" operations go beyond just the police. The use of confidential informants is also an option available in "undercover" operations.

Your BEST bet to gathering information for a school assignment would be to contact an officer working narcotics at your local law enforcement agency. This way you have "direct" information that can be provided in a more appropriate forum.

Good luck with your report...and best wishes!
