Depends on you, and your need for human company. Some types of people fare better than others at living alone - regardless of location.

I got married in 1989. In 1995 my wife left me for appeared to be no real reason other than she was always a bit unstable. (She was like that before we met so no "clever" comments).
I lived on my own from 1995 to 1997 and hated it. I was so lonely and was out every night spending more money than I earnt.
I then met the lad y who became my second wife and we now have a son. I thoroughly recommend living with someone. You may lose a bit of "freedom" but what you gain far outways this.

Why England in particular? Is it because too small a place or because its over crowded, or thinly populated, or what?
Englad is a great place, the people who live there are great, friendly and tolerant, compared to many other places, I know of, in the world.
Lving alone or with somebody in any place is a matter of either choice or cirmcumstances. Unless one has no choice, one should not impose oneself into something one doesn't like or wish to be in. Because when one does so, then one risks one's health.

That all depends has both have disadvantages & pluses if you prefer living on your own then do say.If you need company why not take in a lodger.Good Luck
